No. 18-88-1412ORDINANCE NO.18-88-1412 AN ORDINANCE OFTHECITYOF SOUTH MIAMIFLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 7-13 OF CHAPTER SEVEN OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY BY INCREASING THE SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR BUILDING,PLUMBING,ELECTRICAL,MECHANICAL AND SIGN PERMITS ESTABLISHING CONDITIONS AND AMOUNTS FOR PENALTIES,REINSPECTION AND OTHER FEES;REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITHTHIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,pursuant to Ordinance No.23-85-1185,andas amended,the City of South Miami has provided forafee schedule for permits;and WHEREAS,the City wishes to amend the schedule as provided herein. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA: Section 1.That Section 7-3of Chapter 7oftheCity's Code of Ordinances be amended as follows: Section 7.3.Building,Plumbing,Electrical,Mechanical and Sign Permits and Fees The Building,Zoning and Community Development Department ofthe City of South Miami shall issue all building and other permits presented in said code,collect the fees presented, herein,and make the necessary inspections. (A)BUILDING PERMIT FEES: MINIMUM FEE 35.00 (Fees listed here donot include plumbing, electrical or mechanical installations.) (1)NEW BUILDINGS AND/OR ADDITIONS: For each 100 sq.ft.or fractional part of floor area.7.50 Except for buildings for storage and industrial uses of the Group E and F Occupancies as defined in the the South Florida Building Code,whenworkfor which a permit is required is commenced without the obtaining ofapermit,the feesas specified herein shall be double fees to owner/ builders and double fees and a $400 fine to contractors.For signswithavalueoflessthan$1,000,thefeesas specified herein shall be doubled,and for contractors the fee shall bedoubledandanadditionalfeeof$400shallbepaid.The paymentofsuchfees,aswellasany additional fees,shall notrelieveanyperson,firmor corporation fromfully complyingwithalloftherequirementsofallapplicable regulations andcodes,norshallitrelievethemformbeing subject to any of the penalties set forth therein. -4- (2)No permit or fee shall be required for the painting of single-family residences inRS-1,RS-2,RS-3,RS-4,RB-6and RB-6T zoning classifications inthe city,anda permit feeof $20shallbe required for painting ofall structures inthe City in any other zoning classification. (D)REINSPECTION FEES: When extra inspection trips are necessary dueto: a.Wrong address being given oncallfor inspection, b.Prior rejection of work dueto faulty construction, c.Worknot being readyfor inspection attime specified, d.Failure tocallforfinalor other inspections; e.Required corrections not being made or completed at time specified. The payment of reinspection feesmaybe required before any furtherpermitswillbeissued to thepersonorfirmowningsame, and further inspections maybe refused until payment of reinspection fees have been made.
