FOR CONFLICTS;PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;PROVIDING FORAN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,pursuant to Resolution 159-88-7070 the Mayor and
City Commission of the City of South Miami directed the City
Administration to comply with the Florida Waste Management Act;and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Commission of the City of South
Miami,Florida deem it in the public interest to amend Chapter 11,
entitled "Garbage and Trash"of the Code of Ordinances of the City
in order to begin compliance with said Act.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINEDBYTHEMAYORANDTHECITY
COMMISSION OFTHE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
Section L_Section 11-4,oftheCodeofOrdinances
entitled Preparation of Refuse isherebyamendedas follows:
11-4 Preparation of Refuse.
a)Domestic garbage shall be drained and wrapped in a
newspaper,paper bag or plastic bag before depositing in the

b)Domestic trash,other than grass,hedge clippings,

Section 3.Itis intended that the provisions of this Ordinance
shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the
City,and thatthe Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered,
relettered and the word "Ordinance"maybe changed to "Section",
"Article",or such wordorphraseinorderto accomplish such
intention.
Section 4.If any clause,section,or other partof this Ordinance
shallbeheldby any court of competent jurisdiction tobe
unconstitutional or invalid,such unconstitutional or invalid part
shall be considered as eliminated and in no way effecting the
validity of the other provisions of this Ordinance.
Section 5.All Ordinances orpartsof Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6.This Ordinance shall become effective ninety-days from
