A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,
FLORIDA,RELATING TO CONTRACTS,
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT
AMENDMENTS WITH MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FOR
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG)FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1995 AND
FISCAL YEAR 1996,FOR THE MAXIMUM
AMOUNT OF $519,000.00.
WHEREAS,theCity of SouthMiamiwas awarded a Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG)forthe design and construction of a Multipurpose Center in Murray Parkandthe
Traffic Calming Project for SW 64th Street,and;
WHEREAS,the Miami-Dade County Office of Community and Economic Development
(OCED)administers the CDBG funds through yearly contracts withthe receiving entity,and;
WHEREAS,the contract amendments and extensions with OCED shall make the
aforementioned funds available through December 31,1999.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
Section 1.TheCity Manager ishereby authorized tosignthe OCED Contract
AmendmentsandExtensionforthedesignandconstructionoftheMultipurposeCenterandthe
Traffic Calming Project.

AUTHORIZATION OF THE CITY
MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH MIAMI-DADE

REQUEST
The attached resolution seeks approval fortheCity of South Miami to execute contract
amendments and extension with Miami-Dade Countyto secure Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG)fimds from Fiscal Years 1995 and 1996.
BACKGROUND
The Miami-Dade Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED)administers the
CDBGfunds through a series of yearly contracts.According to Miami-Dade OCED,a
resolutionisrequiredwhichauthorizestheCityManagertosigntheOCEDContract
AmendmentsandExtensionforthedesign of theMultipurposeCenterPhaseIIandtheTraffic
Calming Project.
ANALYSIS
Thesecontractamendments,whichshallbeeffectivethrough December 31,1999,area
necessary administrative steptomake available CBDGfundingfrom previous fiscalyears.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
ThisrequestisanimportantstepfortheCitytocontinuetoreceivefundsfortheseimportant
projects.Approval is therefore recommended.
