Analysis: Thebenefittothecityintime,moneyand increased servicetothe public will beachievedbythe variouscitydepartmentsstaffmembersthatare required toresearch various data systems as partofthedecisionmakingprocess.This system will beavailableto all thecity departments for a more effective data management and the initial outlay will be recovered withina short time frame. TheuseoftheGISsystem would allow thestaffto instantaneously find anaddressonamap as well as allowingmultipleinformationlayerstobe displayed at the same time,such as zoning,flood,sewer,advalorem property taxandother information providedbydifferent government agencies in the same GIS format. Thedataandsoftwareupgrade will bemoreeffectivelyusedinthe Planning Department's assignments.In addition,theupgrade will allowquickgenerationof mailing labelsfor cases that requirepublichearingsorstudieswhich require datatobedisplayedinamap format. The disbursement of$7,289 will bedrawn from account number 001-2100-519-6430,Non- Departmental,Equipment-Operating,FY1998-99,Budget FY 1998-99.The current balance on this account is $35,077.35.
