WHEREAS,the Commission-approved expenditure for electrical conduit workon CityHall'sroofrequiredadditionalworktobeproperlycompleted,and; WHEREAS,theadditionalworkrequiredwasdiscoveredafterthere-routingwas begun,requiringthatthetasksbecompletedwithoutdelay,and; WHEREAS,theoriginallowbidderforthisprojectwasallowedtocontinuewith theadditionalworkforthesake of efficiencyandexpediency. BACKGROUND The City Hall roof repairs were approved by the Commission on April 13th.The expenditure associated with that item was limited to the roof repair itself.On May 4th electrical repairs were approved bythe Commission for Benson Electric Inc.to remove and reinstall electrical conduits toallowfortheroofrepairstobe completed.However,duringthe repairs itwas determined that theconduithadtobereroutedandreplaced. ANALYSIS Sincethreeelectrical contractors originally submitted pricequotesfortheelectricalworkthat samecontractor,BensonElectricwasawardedthesecondpart of thejob.Thisadditionalcost includes for replacing theconduitina fashion thatwouldmeettoday'scode requirements and allowproper electrical routing without interfering withtheroof replacement. The disbursement wouldcomefromthe Hurricane FundaccountNo.110-1310-513-4620 "Hurricane Operating Equipment Fund.The account currently hasa remaining balance of $804.00. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION Given thefactthatthe original workhad begun andthe Sylva Martin Building hadno electricity, approval of theadditionalworkhadtobe completed inatimely manner.Therefore,this expenditure is recommended.
