Res No 107-15-14446RESOLUTION NO.1 07-1 5-1 4446 A Resolution re-appointing Alfredo Riverol,to serve on the City of South Miami Pension Board for a two-year term ending July 6,2017. WHEREAS,the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by thosewho serve onthe various city boards and committees,and wish to appoint afull complement to each of the active boards and committees;and WHEREAS,Sec.16-20 of the Code or Ordinances provides for two active employees of the City tobe appointed as per the City Charter;and WHEREAS,commencing with appointments made after January 1,2009,Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances provides that,appointees are limited totwo(2) consecutive two-year terms of membership ona specific commission,board,or committee.After servinga maximum of two(2)consecutive year terms,an appointee shallnotbe reappointed to the same commission,board or committee unless at least one year has elapsed between theterm limited position andthe effective date of commencement of the proposed appointment fora new term;and WHEREAS,Sec.2-22 "Term Limits"of the Code of Ordinances,as amended by OrdinanceNo.06-14-2184,datedApril15,2014,provides thatthe appointer,orhisorher successor inoffice,may extend thetermlimits of his orher appointment withtheadviceand consent of a majority of the City Commission;and WHEREAS,Mr.Riverol was previously appointed totheCity Pension Board andhehas servedasaboardmemberforoverfourcontinuousyearswhenhiscurrentappointmentexpired on October 1,2014;and WHEREAS,theCityCommissiondesirestore-appointAlfredoRiveroltoserveonthe City'sPensionBoardasanactiveemployeeoftheCityforanadditionaltwo-yearterm, exceedingthe City's termlimitordinanceasanallowableexception.Appointmentsshallexpire July6,2017 oruntilremovedoruntilasuccessorisdulyappointedandqualified.
