7g7 RESOLUTION NO. _____ _ 2 A Resolution re-appointing Alfredo Riverol, to serve on the City of South 3 Miami Pension Board for a two-year term ending July 6, 2017. 4 WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions made by 5 those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to appoint a full 6 complement to each of the active boards and committees; and 7 WHEREAS, Sec. 16-20 of the Code or Ordinances provides for two active employees of 8 the City to be appointed as per the City Charter; and 9 10 WHEREAS, commencing with appointments made after January 1, 2009, Sec. 2-22 11 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances provides that, appointees are limited to two (2) 12 consecutive two-year terms of membership on a specific commission, board, or committee. After 13 serving a maximum of two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee shall not be reappointed to 14 the same commission, board or committee unless at least one year has elapsed between the term 15 limited position and the effective date of commencement of the proposed appointment for a new 16 term; and 17 18 WHEREAS, Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances, as amended by 19 Ordinance No. 06-14-2184, dated April 15, 2014, provides that the appointer, or his or her 20 successor in office, may extend the term limits of his or her appointment with the advice and 21 consent of a majority of the City Commission; and 22 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Riverol was previously appointed to the City Pension Board and he has 24 served as a board member for over four continuous years when his current appointment expired 25 on October 1,2014; and 26 27 WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to re-appoint Alfredo Riverol to serve on the 28 City's Pension Board as an active employee of the City for an additional two-year term, 29 exceeding the City's term limit ordinance as an allowable exception. Appointments shall expire 30 July 6, 2017 or until removed or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. 31 32 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 33 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 34 Section 1. The City Commission hereby re-appoints Alfredo Riverol to serve on the 35 City Pension Board as an active employee of the City a two year term as an exception to the term 36 limits set forth in and as allowed by Section 2-22 of the City's Code of Ordinances. 37 38 Section 2. The expiration date of this appointment shall be July 6, 2017, unless 39 removed earlier by the City Commission, or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. 40 Section 3.
