AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO COMPENSATION
FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION;AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO.24-97-1645 WHICH AMENDED SECTION 2-3 OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES,ENTITLED COMPENSATION FOR
COMMISSIONERS AND MAYOR-ESTABLISHED;PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY,ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT,AND AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS,the Mayor andCity Commission adopted Ordinance No.24-97-1645,
on October 21 1997,which amended Section 2-3 of the Code of Ordinances,entitled
Compensationfor Commissioners and Mayor-Established,tochangetheamount of annual
compensation fromafixedamounttoan amount established ineachbudgetapprovedforthe
city;and,
WHEREAS,the Mayor andtheCity Commission desireto establish afixedamount
of annual compensation byordinance.
NOW,THEREFORE,BEIT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
Section 1.Ordinance No.24-97-1645,which amended Section 2-3 of the Code of
Ordinances,entitled Compensation for Commissioners and Mayor-Established,isamended
to read:
ThereshallbepaidtotheMayorandtoeachCity Commissioner of thecityasannual
compensationtheamount of $3,000.00.Additionally,theMayorandeachCity
Commissioner shall receive suchsumsasare approved bythe annual budget as
reimbursement for compensation forservicesandasallowableexpenses.
Section2.If anysection,clause,sentence,orphrase of thisordinanceisforany
reasonheldinvalidorunconstitutionalbyacourt of competent jurisdiction,theholdingshall
notaffectthe validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section3.Allordinancesorparts of ordinancesinconflictwiththeprovisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 5.This ordinance shalltakeeffect immediately atthetime of its passage.
