WHEREAS,Mayor Naugle has served ontheCity Commission oftheCity of FortLauderdalesince 1983,andhasservedasitsMayorsince 1991;and WHEREAS,MayorNaugle continues tohavean outstanding careerof publicserviceasanelectedofficial of theCity of Fort Lauderdale;and WHEREAS,MayorNaugleservedasPresident of theFloridaLeague of Cities,Inc.,from 1996-1997,as well asits First Vice President from 1995-1996 and its Second Vice President from 1994-1995,andhas served onits Board of Directors since 1987;and WHEREAS,MayorNauglehasalsoservedaschair of theFloridaLeague of Cities'FederalActionStrikeTeam;ispastchair of theFloridaMunicipal Investment Trust,andcurrentlyservesastheboardliaisontotheFLC EnvironmentalqualityCommittee;and WHEREAS,MayorNauglehasremainedcommittedtocommunityservice and academic achievement;and WHEREAS,Mayor Naugleservedwithdistinctionasamember of the NLCEnergy,Environment,andNaturalResourcesSteeringCommittee;and WHEREAS,Mayor Naugle hasservedwith distinction asa member of the NLC's Board of Directors from 1998-2000,is now a member of the NLC AdvisoryCouncil;andservedasthe Board's representativetotheNLC's Information Technology andCommunicationsCommittee;and WHEREAS,the NLC's Board of Directors Officers will be elected at the 2001Congress of CitiesandExposition Conference in Atlanta,Georgia. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA; Section 1.The City of South Miami,a participating municipality in Miami-Dade County League of Citiesactivitiesandservices,supports Mayor Jim Naugle for election as Second Vice President of the National League of Cities. Section 2.That acopy of this resolution be provided tothe members of the National League of Cities'Board of Directorsandthe members of the Nominating Committee,andbemade available tothe entire membership of the National League of Cities.
