A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING BOARD AND
COMMITTEES;APPOINTING JEANETTE MARIE COT O TO SERVE ON
THE JUNIOR COMMISSION FOR WOMEN FOR A TWO YEAR TERM
ENDING SEPTEMBER 19,2002 OR UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED AND DULY QUALIFIED;PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS,The Mayor and Commission recognize the important
contributions made by those who serve on the various city boards
and committees,and wish to appoint a full complement to each of
the active boards and committees;and
WHEREAS,the city Commission desires to appoint Jeanette
Marie Cot o to serve for a two year term on the Junior Commission
For Women.Appointment shall expire September 19,2002or until a
successor is duly appointed and qualified.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA:
MAYOR AND CITY
Section 1.The City Commission hereby appoints Jeanette
Marie Cot o to the Junior Commission For Women.
Section 2.The expiration date of appointment shall
expire September 19,2002 or until ora successor is duly
appointed and qualified.
Section 3.This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon approval.

Jeannette's reputation precededherintomyAdvancedPlacementAmerican History class
this year.Her namehasbeenmentionedovertheyears for manyhonorsand awards.Nowthat
I knowher,I realizethat all ofthepraise I'd heardwasinadequateforthewomanthat she is!She
isan inspiration to all with whomshecomesin contact.Shewas willing toshareherstudytips with
theclass,made copiesofoutlines she didonherownbefore tests,and encouraged all tostudy
and be successful.
In thecommunityJeannettehasbeenanactivevolunteerinmany projects andhas initiated
severalherself.She hasgatheredvolunteerstofeedthe homeless severaltimes,andtrulyenjoyed
the experience.Shehasattendedseveral leadership conferences,always returning with renewed
energyand enthusiasm.Shehas participated in the Hugh O'Brien Foundation at their leadership
conference and has remained activewith the organization.She helped facilitate thisyear's
conference for Sophomores.
Inadditiontomaintainingarigorous academic and volunteer schedule,Jeannette
miraculously finds timeto participate innumeroussportsandschool activities.She isPresident
ofher Senior Class and has already begun preparingfornextyear.As a Junior,she single-
handedly planned a lovely evening for the Junior Formal Dance.Shealso plays basketball for
South Miami Senior High and uses her abilities bothonthe court andofftoencourageand inspire
her teammates.Jeannette is also a member of the EESAC committee of South Miami Senior High
Schooland,assuch,hasworkedcloselywithother student andadult members toinfluence
decisions forher school.This experience directlyrelatestoheranticipatedworkonyour
Commission.She is vocal,interested,and full of enthusiasm.
Therearenotenoughwordsofpraiseto write aboutJeannette.In overtwentyyearsof
teaching,I havemetfewstudentswhoareas dedicated,intelligent,and loving asJeannette.She
