ItisapparentthereisadesiretoestablishgenderpayequitywithintheCity,i.e."equal payforequalwork". Although thetaskisnotyetcomplete, werecognizethebeginnings of "a process".However, ifoneis ultimately doingthework of twopeopleor utilizing inappropriately trainedstaff, additionalcompensation becomes amootpointwhenthejobcannotbedone properly.Havingtoworkwithinadequatesupportstaff defeats increasing compensation. For example, secretariesbeingused in acapacityotherthansecretarial should be reclassified and compensated appropriately, thensecretariesshouldbehiredtodosecretarialwork. We respectfully request that you assess the adequacy of support staff available to the Directors of the City's departments.Weare confident youwill find overworked, incorrectlyclassifiedand consequently under compensated employeescausingDirectorstobeoverworkedand consequently notoptimally effective.
