A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO PARKING POLICIES,
LIMITING THE HOURS OF PAID PARKING AT CITY METERS FROM 9:00
AM UNTIL 12:00 MIDNIGHT;AND EXTENDING CURRENT TWO HOUR
PARKING METERS TO THREE HOURS;AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,theCity of SouthMiamiis supportive of merchants andbusinesses
throughout theCity;and
WHEREAS,areductioninthehourswhereparkingfeesarechargedandanincreasein
the maximum time allowed on short term meters is felt to be beneficial to merchants and
businesses.
NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHEMAYORAND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI:
Section 1.The City Commission directs the City Manager to change the hours of
paid meter parking from thecurrenthoursof7 AM until 12:00 Midnight tonewhoursof9AM
until 12:00Midnight;
Section 2.TheCity Commission directs theCityManagerto increase the maximum
time allowed on short-term meters from two hours to three hours.
Section 3.Thisresolutionshalltakeeffectimmediatelyuponapproval.

THE REQUEST
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO PARKING
POLICIES,LIMITING THE HOURS OF PAID PARKING AT CITY
METERS FROM 9:00 AM UNTIL 9:00 PM;AND EXTENDING

BACKGROUND
The attached resolution sponsored by Commissioner Russell limits the hours of
paid parking at City meters and changes the current hours from 7:00 am until 12
midnight to 9:00 a.m.until 9:00 p.m.It further increases the maximum time
allowed on short-term meters from two to three hours.
