101 RESOLUTION NO. ___ _ 2 3 A Resolution appointing Subrata Basu to serve on the South Miami 4 Planning Board for a two-year term from April 1, 2015 to April 1, 2017. 5 6 WHEREAS, The Mayor and Commission recognize the important contributions 7 made by those who serve on the various city boards and committees, and wish to appoint 8 a full complement of qualified individuals to each of the active boards and committees; 9 and 10 11 WHEREAS, Antoinette Fischer was appointed to the Planning Board by the full 12 City Commission for a two-year term expiring on April 1,2015; and 13 14 WHEREAS, Subrata Basu is a city resident, formally trained in architecture and 15 planning, and with extensive professional experience and volunteer service in city 16 planning; and 17 18 WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to appoint Subrata Basu to serve for a 19 two-year term on the Planning Board from April 1, 2015 to April 1, 2017 or until 20 removed or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified; and 21 22 WHEREAS, commencing with appointments made after January 1,2009, Sec. 2- 23 22 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances provides that, appointees are limited to two 24 (2) consecutive two-year terms of membership on a specific commission, board, or 25 committee. After serving a maximum of two (2) consecutive year terms, an appointee 26 shall not be reappointed to the same commission, board or committee unless at least one 27 year has elapsed between the term limited position and the effective date of 28 commencement of the proposed appointment for a new term; and 29 30 WHEREAS, pursuant to Sec. 2-22 "Term Limits" of the Code of Ordinances, this 31 will be Mr. Basu's first two-year term of two (2) possible consecutive terms. 32 33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY 34 COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA, THAT: 35 36 Section 1. The City Commission hereby appoints Subrata Basu to succeed 37 Antoinette Fischer on the Planning Board upon the expiration of her present term. 38 39 Section 2. The appointment shall begin on April 1, 2015 and expire on April 40 1, 2017, or when removed, or when a successor is duly appointed and qualified. 41 42 Section 3.
