3 A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to join with the South Miami
4 Community Redevelopment Agency in sponsoring the Martin Luther King
5 Celebration and to expend one half of the cost, up to a maximum of $6,000.

7 WHEREAS, in the past, the Martin Luther King Celebration was sponsored and funded
8 by the South Miami Community Redevelopment Agency; and
9 WHEREAS, this celebration is part of a National holiday; and
10 WHEREAS, South Miami Community Redevelopment Agency contributes its shares of
11 the cost of the Safe Street Program and Elves Parade which benefits the other parts of the City of South
12 Miami; and
13 WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Celebration benefits all of South Miami.

15 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
16 COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI, FLORIDA:

18 Section 1. The City Commission desires that the City contribute to the Martin Luther
19 King Celebration and the City Manager therefore authorized to pay for one half of the cost of the
20 celebration, in an amount not to exceed $6,000.

22 Section 2. Severability. If any section clause, sentence, or phrase of this resolution is for
23 any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, the holding shall
24 not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this resolution.

26 Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
27 adoption by vote ofthe City Commission.
