Omar A. Morales
Biography
President and Principal Architect of FORMGROUP in Miami, Omar
Morales has designed and overseen the construction of over
1 ,000,000sf. of commercial buildings and numerous residential
projects throughout the South Florida. A specialist in many building
types, his past work includes the high-rise condominiums, luxury
restaurants, office buildings, and various custom single family
homes. Recently completed Cipriani Restaurant in Brickell has
brought the world class eatery to the Miami market while a
residence in South Miami stretches the limits of sustainability and
modern design. The CIMA Corporate Center on Coral Way
completed in 2011 received numerous design awards for its
innovative use of material and efficiency.
A 40 year resident of Miami, Omar Morales received his degree in
Architecture from the University of Miami where he was named to top
design student in his graduating class. After a brief service in the
United States Air Force, he was awarded a mentorship under Bruce
Graham, FAIA, famed Chicago architect of the Sears Tower and the
Hancock Tower in Chicago. His training under Bruce Graham
exposed him to the highest level of design excellence and a true "old
school" approach to architecture that included the concept of
Architect as Master Builder. His training under Bruce Graham
included all aspects of construction techniques which his mentor
instilled as the key to great design. His drive for construction
knowledge led him to become certified as a general contractor and he
continues to bring his knowledge of construction techniques to every
project. After returning to South Florida, Omar Morales worked on
prominent hotel and condominium projects including the renovation of
the Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove. In 1999 he established his own
design firm in Coral Gables and has maintained a focus on
excellence in design and constructability.
