A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI,FLORIDA,RELATING TO THE
ACCEPTANCE OF A FY 2000 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
APPLICABLE CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS;AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)Program serves to
improve communities:and
WHEREAS,the City of South Miamimade application for funding in order to improve
recreational and socioeconomic aspects of its community;and
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners awarded the City of South Miami
$50,000 forits CDBG application;and
WHEREAS,theMayorandCity Commission desireto accept thegrantin order to
enhance the City's quality-of-life.
NOW.THEREFORE.BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI:
Section 1.TheCity Manager is authorized to accept aFY 2000 Community
Development Block Grant inthe amount of $50,000.
Section 2.The City Manager is authorized to execute contracts and documents
applicable tothe acceptance of theCDBG.
Section 3.This resolution shalltake effect immediately upon approval.

BACKGROUND,ANALYSIS AND RECOMMENDATION
TheCity of SouthMiami submitted severalapplicationsfortheFY2000 Community
DevelopmentBlockGrantProgram,includingCareer Counseling,Policing Concepts andPark
Improvements.
On December 16,1999,the Miami-Dade County Office of Community &Economic
DevelopmentinformedtheCitythattheBoard of County Commissioners approvedagrantinthe
amount of $50,000 for park safety improvements at Marshall Williamson Park.
TheFY2000awardwillbeutilizedinconjunctionwithpastCDBGfundingtomakemuch
needed improvements toMarshallWilliamsonPark,includingthe replacement of thetotlotand
the provision of ADA-compliant facilities.
TheattachedresolutionwouldallowtheCityManagertoexecutethecontractsanddocuments
necessarytoreceivethemoneyandmoveforwardwiththis important endeavor.

OCED will not make special arrangements tomake payments to agencies that donot have executed contracts.To
receivefunds,your agency must have an executed contract by January 1.2000.
The deadline for submission of these documents is the close of business Thursday.December 23.1999.All

(305)375-3508.Failure to submit the required documents will delay the contract development process,
which will prevent your agency from receiving payment for its project expenditures.
