President of the out-going Council, Harry P ebish called the meeting to order and asked I:ayor• -elect John 7.7. G. Fritz to step up to be sworn in. The oath of office was administered by 0. 1. Jones, Notary Public, and father- in -lav; of Mr. Fritz.' ' Having been duly qualified, IGRayor Fritz proceeded with his first official duty where:Lt he swore in the members of the newly- elected Council, to -wit, A. G. Gresham, Jr., J. I.T. Bryant, Carl Gluck, H. Hollis Earrow and Edward J Corley, and who were then seated. Itayor Fritz declared the first meetinL; of the new Council in session and asked the ,Rev. John D. Henderson make the invocation. Mayor Fritz 'asked if any member of the Council wished to make a statement at this time. fr Councilman Barrow stated he hopes that they can prove by action as a Council that it will not be necessary to make ;speeches > Councilman Gluck states he ;,rants to take this opportunity to thank the people who have supported him. He hopes to have that support throughout the comin,13 year and welcomes advice, and any good suggestions for the improvement of the Council will be received gratefully by him. b"iciLnan Gresham stated he seems to have made the newspapers this after- noon even. before this Council 'has been org�7ized. Fie hopes to work in harmony with all. Nayor Fritz stated he wishes to express his Gratitude to the people for the confideiacc placed in him, and he v;ill do hi,- utmost to fulfill that confidence.
