COUNCIL HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 28,
A.D. 1951 AT THE CO1v MNITY BUILDING AT 8 :00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President Prebish with Councilmen Corley, Carballo,
Gresham, Rebozo, Andrews and Prebish and Attorney Ruff responding to roll call*
President Prebish read the notice for the meeting which had been called for the purpose
of canvassing the election returns of the Run -off Election held on February Z7, A.D. 1951'
and for the purpose of taking action on bills for February purchases to close out
accounts incurred by the retiring Administration.
Mayor- Elect; Fritz and Councilmen -Elect Bryant and Gluck were also present.
Minutes of the regular 'meeting of February 20 were read. Attorney Henry Fuller stated
that the figure for the valuation of the Frost property is $16,000 instead of ,$1600000
as stated, and following correction, the minutes were approved as corrected.
The oonplete Election Return Sheet f'cr the Run -off Election held on February 27, was
read by the Clerk. Resolution No. '385 was then read, as follows

A RESOLUTION OF THE CANVASSING BOARD OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
MIAMI CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS OF THE RUN -OFF ELECTION
HELD ON FEBRUARY 27, A.D. 1951 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING
A MAYOR PURSUANT TO SECTION FOUR (4) OF THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI.
WHEREAS, the City Council sitting as a Canvassing Board, having examined the
Return Sheet of the Run -off Election of the City of South Miomi held February 27,,
A.D. 1951 isd certified by the Election Clerk and the Election Inspectors duly
appointed, hereby declares the said Return 3hoet to be proper and correct,, and
bWEREAS, the said Return' Sheet rocords the 'votes cast for the candidates in

That pursuant to Section 4e of the Charter of the City of South Miami, as
amended, that John We G. Fritz has been duly elected to some as Mayor of the City of
South 'Miami, Florida for a term of one (1) year, commencing March 1, 1951 and
ending March 1, 1952.

Councilman Gresham, seconded by Councilman Corley, moved that the bills as submitted
be approved and paid as of February 28, together with requisitions still to be issued,
to cover routine _purchases thru February <28. Motion carried by poll, as follows;

Councilman Gresham moved that the meeting be adjoiarar_d No seconds

department heads, as to the 'incoming Council. -
Following discussion, Councilman Andrews stated that Mr. Brewer has been doing the work
of a Zoning Authority, without pay, and that the Council would be remiss in not re
cognizing the work that was put in there*
Councilman Gresham stated a special meeting was _called for two particular items of
business. 'Is this in order?
President Prebish stated anything to be finished can be considered.
Attorney Ruff said he would like to suggest a certificate be gotten up that could be
framed. How about buying him an inexpensive desk set?
Councilman Rebozo, seconded by Councilman Corley, moved that as much as $50.00 be spent
on a gift in expression of past services for Mr. Brewer and including a certificate of
appreciation.
Councilman Carballo asked if that would require a resolution.,
Councilman Andrews said. that could be included in the bills payable O.K.'d tonight.
