The meeting was called to order by Pres. Prebish, with Councilmen Prehle,
Corley,'Carballo, Gresham and Atty. Yates responding to roll call.
BF nutes . of the special, meeting of tune 14 were approved as read.
jas. 0. Stewart, representing the South i„iami Coach Lute appeared before
the Council in reference to tree petition requesting an extension of their
franchise and to explain the�-rate schedule proposed therein for the pay
ment of a franchise tax. He explained that altho the present franchise
expires approximately 3. years from novas there is need to extend it at
this time to insure them a chance to realize on their investment in the
proposed, installation of additional Uiesal- powered buses.
Pres. Prebish appointed Councilman Preble as chairman of a committee with
Councilmen Gresham and -Llndrews to make such recommendations as neces-
sary and meet with the youth Miami Coach Line officials if necessary
and come' back at IM a very early date.�
Roy Bailie next appeared before the Council regarding his request for
salvage rights at the pit, stating he would work it early in the morn-
ings) and would pay the City $15.00 per month for these rights.

Bailie for the salvage privilege on the six months basis as suggested:

Councilman Carballo stated he wanted the resolution brought up at the
next regular meeting and in the meantime suggested that a committee be-

in response to legal notice requesting scaled bids for a generating set
for emergency purpose at the City Hall, the following bids l,tere on har,..d
and were opened:

Councilman Feeble suggested the appointment of a committee to check, the
unit at :tern Co. and report and Prebident Prebish named Councilmen
Gresham, and Midrevis and Yayoi Acker as a committee to make inspection
of the unit.
Mr. Stern stated that he wanted to condition his bid on having a decision
sooner than tvjo week, as he has already sold ti�:o of the `3 units he had.
Vollowing discussion, Councilman Treble, seconded by Councilman Gresham$
moved that Resolution No. 298 be read.

as per specifications in bid attached, for the total purchase price of

reed, and the Clerk instructed to acknowledge same.
A letter from Consumers dater Co. 'advising of their progress in the matter
of water service and rates, was considered a step in adjusting some of
the City's difficulties with the Company6
The renewal of the contract for police radio service from the 'City of
Miami was brought up and the contract given to vi.nance Chairman Treble and
Atty. Yates to check.
Reports, of standing Com littecs were as follows:
Sanitation. Chairman Corley stated they had forgotten the pit in the bud
get, that they must get a bull dozer in there instead of burning, that he
had: called Leach Construction Co. and Fla. -Ca. 'Tractor Co. and they might
be able to•get a used one or rent one.
Atty. Yates reported on the injunctionI that he has been in contact with
the attorney from time to time.
Fires;. Chairman Carballo discussed the proposed fire truck but stated he
still needed additional information and vanted a special meeting next
Tuesday to last not later than 11:30 to continue discussion on the Fire
Mrevcnt'ion ordinance.

Councilman Gresham brougit up the matter 'of the requested street lights on
zj. ii. 49th bt. and that r.Ulier• is going to recommend putting all white -May
standards on the oid rate, and that he is to check these lights and see if
�h they are u.ri. to hook up. Insofar as toilets for the ball park were con
corned, he reported that this is being worked on between the Volunteer
Firemen and the City: He also reported that vacatioi-O had been worked out
between his men and no substitutes tiould have to be put on.
Police: Qhairq an Frebish stated he had an operating statement for vAy but
had forgotten to bring it along. At this point Councilman Preble re-
ported back on the proposed radio contract and Councilman treble, seconded

Finance z Chairman Preble reported there had been no turthor word from the
bank, but,that the interest would be 6t6,, and it was his understanding that
the Mayor and Clerk ;go and complete the papers.
Cn tile matter of special committees, Courrcilmarn Carballo asked' what has
happened in the matter of increasing South !. ami and Pres. Pr'ebish stated
he would report at a later meeting. Atty. Yates is to study the file of
the r'red .picker case by former ittty. lward.
Mayor tacker suggested setting up a- district and holding a referendum.
Councilman treble stated he had been approached by a member of the com-
munity south of us, around Ludlum and oohnson, as to the possibility of
i including that area in South u:iam .

that the latest is to create a mounted Boy Scout troop by the South kiami
Riding Club, that the Girl Scout troop in aouth Liami is of the liohest
calibre, receiving 63 awards in. one night;.

to change their regular meetin g night from Thursday to Tuesday. the question of the condition of the present :Soy Scout but was also dis
cussed and who is to -'rake it down. inspector c anington was to get: to-
gether with Building' Chairman andrevis and report at the next ,meeting on
this.
The matter of �4orkmenls compensation insurance and renevial of the Com-
munity Building insurance was referred to r'iriance Chairman Preble for study.
The question of occupational licenses was raised with special reference to
the change of ownership and addition of a prescription department at the
reed Ad. a Dird- rid. drug store, and the Acme dindot, ;Cleaning Co.
%res. Prebish raised the question of money for the following years budget,
revising the garbage too ordinance, changing the charter to permit 100b
valuation instead of 50�6, and bistalling phrkting metors, %yore arlong file

with the attached letters is to be as follows
An electrical transmission line to be constructed on the
North bide of No 4th Street between N. 4th Avon ;'W and Red Roadp
and on the North side of Driller drive between IT. 4th Ave. and
Ludlum Roadp which line will fortify the poyjor supply to their
Coconut Grove and 62nd Ave. substations, which serve a large
Part of the South Miami area.
