The meeting was called to order by Pres. Van Dusan with MAyor Acker,
and Councilmen Corley, Carballo Andrevis2 Gresham' i-rebish, Preble
and Van Dusan present,.
Pres. Vail Dusan read the notice for the meeting which was called for
i . -OO P.M. and to be adjourned not later than 10:00 P.M. For the pur-
pose of
1 To act on the bids for a generating system for the City Fall
and on bids for street equipment.
Z. To act on vacations for the firemen
3. :To discuss further the Fire Prevention Cwdinance.
4. To have a first and second reading of Ordinance 7#187.
Although proper legal notice had been inserted requesting, sealed bids
for generating equipment for the City nall, no bids had been received.

Following discussion Councilman Carballo seconded by Councilman Corley
moved that the equipment in the bid be purchased at the price stated.
= Councilman Prebish asked where the City would bet the money for this
purchase. Uouncilman Preble asked whether they will take into con-
sideration any eqquipment the City now has. Councilman Gresham stated
that Florida Elm1bment will take the oil distributor in on the purchase
of other equipment from them, but in the meantime this proposed equip-
ment is needed. lie also stated that Belcher Oil offered $29000.00 for
the Huber and Broom ot�-
in trade for oil.

With reference to the generating equipment Councilman Andretis stated
he had received bids but had opened them. Councilman Carbal'lo seconded
by Councilman Gresham moved that bids 'or the generator be .re- advertis(d
in another newspaper to be opened at the second regular meeting in June.
Councilman Andrews dial not believe it necessary to advertise again but
believed bids could be asked for for the .next regular Meetjnw& by` noti ,*

ing the people from whom he had received the bids to send in sealed
bids. The vote on the motion to re- advertise was carried by poll as

The need for an additional fireman while one of the regular men is on
vacation was brought up. Chairman Carballo stated this was especially
necessary with the regular truck in the repair shop and that the trail-
er will require two men to handle and that the men still in L,own are
subject to call in case of emergency. Resolution: No. 294 was read by
Pres. Tan Dusen as follows.-

and sufficient funds have been set up in the regular budget to cover

temporary fireman from June 1, 1949 to June 30, 1949 and
for two weeks during the month of September. 1949, when
the third regular fireman takes his vacation' ertsy
2. That payment for his salary shall be drawn from the funds
set aside in the 1948 -1949 budget under Salaries Expense
for the Fire Department.

Councilman Andrews seconded by Councilman Corley moved that Ordinance
#187 be placed on second reading by caption only. motion carried.-
After discussion, the call for the vote on the motion of second reading
by caption only was carried. C:ouncilman.Andrews seconded by Councilman
Corley moved that Ordinance No. 187 be placed on third reading at the
next regular meeting. :,,lotion carried.
Chairman Carballol seconded by Councilman Corley2 moved that he would.
like a calf for a special meeti.uigt for the second Tuesday in June to
continue the reading of section by section of the fire prevention
ordinance with condition that the meeting be from 8:00 to 10:30 and
that this be the only order of business unless an emergency might
come up. Motion carried.
Benaami:n Adler asked to address the Council, but was told this was
a.special,meeting called for special items only and it was recom-
mended that he come to the next regular meeting because the council
is unable at this time to take any action on any additional business,.
It was agreed to adjourn the meeting and let !ak. Adler present his
plea,unofficially. The meeting was adjourned in regular order at
