COUNCIL OF SOUTH AII. YI FIELD MONDAY EVENING
FEBRUARY 28, A.D. 1949 AT THE CITY HALL AT
K 8:00 P.M
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Brown with Mayor Barrow and
Councilmen ,Bryant,; Bennett? Shaferg Atwood, Maples and Brown respond-
ing to roll call, and Mayor -elect Acker and Councilmen -elect Prebish
Carballo2 Gresham and Preble in attendance. Pres:. Brown read the
notice for the meeting which had been called for the purpose of
clearing up insofar as possible all business of the retiring Mayor
and City Council.
Minutes of the regular meeting of'February 15 were approved as read.
A letter from the Consumers Water 'Co. was presented, with reference
to,thedlearing of the platted alley to the west of Lots 115 to 117
UNIVERSITY.PARK and their plans for the use of the said lots. Also
presented was a check from the Consumers Water Co. in the amount of
$200.00 for the South Miami Youth Center.
Following discussion, Councilman Bennett2 seconded by Councilman
viaples, moved that the matters be tabled and turned over to the new
Council for consideration at their first meeting. Motion carried.
Finance Chairman.Bryant reported that the semi - annual audit report
had been received. Following discussion? Councilman Maples, seconded'
by Councilman Bryanty moved that a report of the financial condition
of the City as reflected in the audit and turned over to the new
Councils be published. The audit report showed that in the six-
months period reviewed :less than half of the budget had been spent.

A resolution prepared by the Florida Power & Light Company= to authorize
the installation of 14 new street lights was presented, and on, motion
of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Shafery turned over to
the new Council for action, with the recommendation of immediate con-
sideration. Motion carried.
A list of bills for February purchases$ as reflected by requisitions
already issued9 or bills renderedp with some tickets still outstand
ing$ was presented for approval, as follows:
