Railroad, Councilman', Shafer stated that
in subsequent discussions with members of the Zoning Board, it had
been recommended that the change in zoning be extended to include
all property in the area bounded by the Railroad2 ited,Road and down
to S. lst St.); and that 'he would like to make this amendment to his
motion. Following a discussions Councilman Shafer! seconded by
Councilman Bryant, moved that the entire triangle bounded by Red
ltd. ,,, the Railroad and So lst Stop with the exception of the 'Bakery
property be included in the hearing for a chai-�cg;e to C -1 use and
that m luilding permits, for a more liberal use than C -1 be held up.
Motion carried.
Thereupon,, Councilman Shafer seconded by Councilman Pressley, moved
that the minutes of the regular meeting of July 6 be approved as read.
Motion carried.
Councilman Pressley reported on his interview with Mayor Thompson
as did Councilman Shafer and other members of the Councils and follow-
!9further discussion$ Councilman Bryant, seconded by Councilman
ssley, moved that Mayor Thompson's resignation be accepted. Motion
carried by poll, as follows:

With the vacancy created by the Mayor's resignation, Councilman Maplest
seconded by Councilman Shafers moved that Council President W. T.
Clark be named acting Mayor. Lotion carried and W. To Clark took
the Mayor's chair, handing, over the gavel to 'Vice -pres. Darrow.,
Councilman Shaferg seconded by Councilman Pressley then moved that
Vice -Prey. Barrow be named President of the Council and that the
vacancy on the Council be left unfilled for the present. 1Aotion
carried.
Councilman Pressleyv seconded by Councilman Shaferl moved that Council-
man J. W& Bryant be named Vice-President of the Council. Motion
carried.
With the change in officers,, it became necessary to make a charge in
signatures on the City's vouchersq and Resolution #275 was sari+

of the City of South Miami, Florida, and
Wl-DIMS$ H. Hollis Barrow has ,,succeeded to the office of
President of the Council of the City of South Miami, Florida
NOW2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the signature of W. T
Clark as President of the City Council on the checks of the City of
South Miami, Florida be cancelled as of the close of business on
July 12 19489 and the signature of H. Hollis; Barrow as President
of the 6ity Council of the City of South Miami, Florida be honored
as of July 132 1948 and until further notice.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of Julayq A.D. 1948.

No. 275 be adopted as reado motion carried by poll, as follows.

Councilman Shafer, seconded by Councilman Pressley, moved that no
building permit in a C or M zone along streets where the right -of -way
is less than 50 ft., either front or side2 shall be issued without a
hearing ;unless the building line is 50 ft. or more from the center of
the street or 'right -of -way. Motion carried.
Councilman Maples2 ,seconded by Councilman Atwood, moved that the City
protest the requested change in zoning to a BU2 A to permit a pack-
age store on the County side of the Bird and lied Rd. Corner2 on which
notice had been sent to the Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Board
only. Lotion carried.
Councilman Pressley seconded by Councilman Bryant, moved that as of
duly 1 Uffieers doe Stephens and Donald Jacobs be put on full status
at $200900 Per month. Motion carried by poll2 as follows
