The meeting was, `called to order by Vice -Pros. Barrow, with Yayor Thomp-
son, and Councilmen Br,y-ant� Parrovi, Pressley, Maples and Shafer respond-
ing to roll call,
nllinutes of the regular meeting of April 6 were approved as read.
'Clayton Acker presented a written application of Ted Crockett for the
re- zoning of his property. Councilman Pressley7 seconded by Council
man Maples, moved that the matter be referred to the Zoning Board for
consideration. , Motion carried.
The written application of ..H. L. Cotton for a change to C -1 on Lot's
10 and 11 Block 5 TOV�TISITD CF LA; RMS17 was referred to the Zoning
Board for consideration on motion of Councilman Pressley, seconded
by Councilman Maples. I4iotion carried.
Clayton Acker then made an offer of the Yethodist'Church Building for
a City hall by purchase, stating that he believed the present city
hall and immediately adj oinir4E:,, lots could be sold for enough to handle
the deal. he stated that the Church building had approximately 5800
sw. ft. and quoted the following prices: Church building and ground
100 by 100 ft. - x;19 1500; ground 100 by 100 at rear fronting on North
Red Ct.1, $49000 and ground 50 by 200 fronting on Sunset 'rest of church
s5v000. Following a discussion, Layor Thompson appointed Oouncilmen
Bryantt 14aples2 Barrow and Shafer as a committee to look into the matte's. (1
J. P. Canington next appeared before the Council to state that the
Baptist Church congregation plans to out up a new church 80 ft. long
but the lot is only 109 feet deep, so that with the required 25 ft
set -back from the front lot line there are only 4 ft. left from the
rear line which abuts S. 4th Rd. In, view of the ex.tra width of that
street (60 ft.,) Councilman Rryant7 seconded by Councilman Maples
moved that the Council grant the waiver of the one foot and perriiit a
4 -ft. set -back at the rear lot lino for this building only. Iviotion
carried.
In connection with this constructioll� Cow �c loran Shar, seconded by
Councilman Fresoo e moved that the it require only the minimun
charges for building, pluxibing and electrical permits. ldation carried.

hearing on April 12. Because of the withdrawal by the contract purchaser
of his request on Lots 46 and 47, the request for rezoning Lots 48 49� and
50 was withdrawn at the hearing.
The hearing was conducted on Lots 46 and 47 and was based on the
application of the title holder at the time the rezoning application ,')as
filed with the Council, but in view of the pending change of ownership, 'r
brought out at this hearing, the Board recommends that the application as
filed be denied..
If the new owner wishes to file another application setting forth
in detail the proposed use the Advisory 4oning Board will conduct another
hearing if the application is referred to it

recent County hearing (April 19) which he had asked George Drewert pros-
pective member of the newly planned LoninL and planning Board to attend,
the County had also held to residential zoning in this area on Bird xoad.

moved that the recommendation of the zoning Board be accepted as presented.

Councilman Shafer reported that the three members of the present
Advisory Zoning Board and George Brewer, H, 'd. Vanderboegh and
dhas. D. Tharp had agreed to serve on the new Zoning and Planning Board.
Appointment of a seventh man was still pending. Thereupon Councilman
Shafer, seconded by Councilman Maples, moved that Urdinance #171 be
adopted as read. Notion carried by poll, as follows;

Mayor Thompson,suggested that a meeting of the new Board be called
for Tuesdoy evening, April 27, to be attended by all members of the
Council. All agreed to attend.
Reports of standing Committees were as follows:

by.the committee scheduled to meet with a representative of the Miami
eater Board but Councilman Barrow reported that as yet Atty. `yard had
not been able to arrange a meeting.

Signs at the corners there revulted in a discussion on the painting of
traffic lines anti "no parking" signs on private; property.
Streets -Rc Parks,: In the absence of Chairman Atwood, temporarily in
hey .'rest, it was agreed that S. 11. Shaw be employed to replace Richard J.
King 7 J r. at �l.? -00 per week at the Community ity Building . The exact loca-
tion of the street light at N- 3rd Ave. and N. 2nd St. was to be checked
follot,4ing a report by 11. D. Puller of the Fla. Power 6: Light Co. tiiat
there is no pole immediately at the intersection, but that, in his opinion tl-jo-
pole to the south of it would serve the purpose in vie7N of the jog there.
Buildings: Taken care of earlier in the meeting (Baptist Church matter) .;
Sanitation: Chairman Darrow stated that his department needed another new
trl6k to replace the old 11"40 Ford which is constantly requiring repairs
and to keep u» with the growing demands for collection tith the many new
homes 'being completed and becoming occupied. The possibility of selling
the old cut -don school bus and 1x40 truck, was discussed but no action
takers.
At this Point Vice -Pros. Barrow asked to be excused and Councilman,
chafer seconded by Councilman Maples, moved that Uouncilman Br ant be
made cLi >man to Finish the meeting. Motion carried.
