1947-04-29 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MTGMINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF SOUTH MIAMI 'HELD TUESDAY EVBNING9
APRIL 299A. D. 1947 AT-THE CITY HALL AT
tSS :00 P. M.
The meeting was called to order by Pr6s. Clarkq with Mayor Thompson
and Councilmen Bryant, Atwood Pressley, Maples, Barrow, Shafer and
Clark responding to roll call.
Notice of the special meeting was read9 which was called for the pur-
pose of conducting a public hearing on the proposed improvement of
portions of North Red Court and North First Avenue and for the con-
sideration of any building permit applications on file.
The property owners to be affected by the proposed improvement were
well represented and took part in the discussion. It was generally
agreed that it would not be. necessary or practical at this time to
widen.the paving to more than 18 feet except at the Bakery, and that
the Bakery would take care of that part directly with whatever com-
pany got the bid for the work. It was also agreed that the newer
method of utilizing the existing paving by patching holes and then
re- urfacing the entire width be employed father than tearing it all
up and re- rolling and paving, as was formerly done. All present
agreed with the recommendation of Mr. J. L. 'Bailey that the property
owners leave <t up to the Council to get the best road for the money,
and 18 ft. wide.
Thereupon Councilman Shafer, - seconded by Councilman Bryant2,moved that
R:eso ution No. 263 be read. Motion carried.
