cabins he proposed to erect.: on his property, stating that he f oLuad
out that such construction would come under the CPA and 'would be per-
mitted only if it can be clearly shorn that the lack of these facili-
`ties constituted a severe and unreason,-O lc hr�rd;.hip on the community
to be served. Following a discussion, in which it was suggested that
Kr. Jacobs clpmbinc the proposed units under one roof as the nucleus
of a hotel, Councilman Ohafer, seconded by Councilman Bryant, moved
that the City Cleric write a letter to tho CPA incorporating the fact
that with the removal of the obsolete frame structure of the "Southern
Pines' hotel. the City's onl, transient facilities had been el ,urinated
and that -the Council recommends that Mr. Jacob's application for a
permit to erect such faci:litics be E"ranted on the ground cf community
need, and that the Chamber of Commc ce also be requested to ,mite The
CPS, to that effect. Motion carried.
A request for the renewal of taxi licenses to the Cables Taxi Compan.,�,
which is under new management, was turned crown by the motion of Council- ;
man 1; :aples, seconCtted by Councilman .atwood, that the needs of South
141ami for taxi and IT-drive-it service are Laing amply met by the South
Iiiiami 'Taxi, inc., and the t,ao licenses for colored taxis now in effectT
