The meeting was called to order by 1-res. Clark, with Mayor Thompson,
Atty. H. F. ' „ard and all members of the Council responding to roll
call.
Ie:inutes of the regular meeting of larch 4 and of the special meeting
of Iti,arch 11 were respectively read and approved.
Regular order of business was suspended to consider the business of
visitors.
Councilman Shafer brought up the matter of C. 2. Nvant, whol on
March 4 requested a permit to enclose his car port into a garage, but
it now develops that he intends to use this part of his building for
a beauty shop., and inasmuch as this is in a residential section7 the,
question of the right to issue an occupational license had been
raised. Mr. =want stated that he had since been informed that the
State Board of Beauty Culture does not require the issuance of a
City license, and he was authorized to go ahead with his building
plans

Following the reading of a letter from the Florida Leage of Munici-
palities 2 regarding its plans for the coming legislative season,
and - discussion on the matter, Councilman 'Maples.) seconded by

garding a proposed new permanent license tag on automobiles was
referred to the Police Department, after: a discussion on the ,matter:
letter from the Dade County Zoning Departcticnt, advising of hearings w

south of Hardee, and the east side of iced Road just south of Sunset
Drive, was read.

Sanitatien: In reporting two c(xiplaints referred tc, him as sanitation
matters, Chairmwi Barroty . ..uestioncd whither they sally came um;er his

department. One was" from A. B. Core regarding the dLmipirg across, the street
by 3. L. Cotton, who had to date failed to keep his agreeciont to clear
and level it up. The ether com laint was in reference to the tree cut
down on the Dorn's property, and which was creating a fire hazard. In
the course of discussion it was brought out that there; d s a big difference
between trash put on the side of the street and actual land clearing;. It
was agreed to move the small stuff, and suggested that the truck be
parked there after 4 rI.M. to let the property owner load it and the City
would_ move it off the next A.I4. The other alternative proposed was to
move it and charge the Dorns for it. Chairman Barrow also reported that
the man at the pit, who keeps it in shape, is to control and have all
Salvage. The Council agreed in this and left it up to him to workout
as he sees fit. „
In connection with sanitation, the report of the Public Health Nurse
for this area was read, advising that at last week,'s clinic for colored
people, 930 had completed their 3rd shot, for typhoid.
Fire. Chairman 101aples reported on the depth of water in the fire
wells and stated that Rogers will dig deeper the six that definitely
need it. There was also a discussion regarding 61, driven wells, which
it was reported should run at approximately •125.00 each. It was
agreed to let one be put down to see just what the cost would be.
Police. Chairman Pressley brought up the need for correcting items
4 and 5 in Article 3 of Ordinance 939 recommending that the fine for
the first offense be set at $10., for the 2nd $15.00 and Court for
the 3rd. Councilman Pfessleyt seconded by Councilman 11aples. moved

Councilman Maples, seconded by Councilman Pressley, then moved that
Ordinance; No. 159 be placed on second reading by caption only. Motion
carried.
Councilman Shafer, seconded by Councilman Bryant, then moved that
Ordinance lio. 159 be placed on third and final readink„ in its entirety.

Bade County, was taken under consideration and action withheld pending
further investigation,

also stated that there were people who would give 4600, to the City
to put him on as a playgroun(3 supervisor until June 30, and then see
what the City could do from then on. No action teas taken at this time.
At this point Councilman Barrow asked to be excused.

Street designations, having been corrected, Councilman Shafer', seconded
