The meeting was called to order by Pres. Clark, with Mayor' Thompson? Atty.,
%T. G. ;yard and all members of the Council rest onding to roll call.
E,inutes of the regular meeting of February 18 and o:'the induction meet-
ing of Yarch 1 were respectively approved as read.
A delegation of owners of property in the BILT11,10 2E M]IGHTO subdivision,
appeared before the Council with reference to the change of lot lines
as proposed by '11. C. Happe, raising the question of minimum lot size
in that subdivision. John W. Fritz, Frank L. Davis and H T. IJTadry,
representing both himself and Ross V. Hisey, were interested owners
protesting the proposed reduction of a 100 ft. lot and change of lot
lines by d. C. Happe. Atty. Ward ruled that lot lines cannot be changed
or waived without consult of the Council, when such change means a re-
duction in existing lot size.

Sanitation Chairman Earrow reported that both trucks were rolling
again and that the repair bill on the garbage truck would be around
$150.00.

had Police: Chairman Pressley stated that he wanted to put an order in
to the Telephone Co. to have the phone from the back room moved to

Clerk's office entirely. This was agreed to.
Streets c` Parks. Chairman Atwood reported that the had not yet met
v . Shuck, who operates the Maintainer, and also brc ught up the question of
a caretaker for the building and ground: at the ;'Community _Building and
a supervisor for the playground.

Chairman Shafer stated that he would like'to recommend that the Council
withhold action on these applications until they could investigate a-
little 'more just what amount can be paid and check on other matters.
Councilman Shafer, seconded by Counc iman Pressley, moved that the
Council give a vote of thanks to o. R. Collar for the beautiful table
top he presented to the Council. Motion carried.
Atty. lard ,called the Council's attention the provisions of Sec. 10 of
the Charter with reference to the appointment of City employees and
_Councilman Barrow7 seconded by Councilman Maples, moved that the new
Council accept and retain all City employees now employed ri the
Clerk's Office, Police, Fire and Sanitary Departments, and at the
same schedule of pay., iwotion carried by poll, as follows:

oAtty. Ward stated there were several matters in ;litigation which, he
would see to completion, but that if at some time in the future the
5 Council can get someone else, he will be glad to have the change made. ,
The matters now pending were briefly outlined as follows:
1. The suit to quiet title; on the 20 acres on Ludlum Roads in Sec. 26 -54-
40, was being fought by the Collins Co
2. The appeal of the recent `:uo Warranto case (Rodney Miller, et a1) is
to be argued before the Supreme Court on Iu�arch 1£3
3. Zoning. The City must decide the 'type of community it wants to be
and zone accordingly.,
4 ". Riding Club deal. '4hile the South Miami Riding Club acquired title
to approximately 30 acres in CALMRIDGE LAVaffl, the City still has an -
interest of approximately 0109000 in the balance of propertyf repre-
sented by tax certificates, an_ the County is not interested in main -
taining it as a public dedication unless the City 'wishes it. It is
a uuestion as to whether the Riding Club will go on with its program
or riot.
Councilman Pressley moved that Iuayor Thompson be made City Fudge, but
there was no, second to the mction. Councilman Barrow recommended that
the present judge, A* T. Healy, be retained, that he knovis laws being-
an attorney and having worked in the County Solicitor's office., Follow-
ing a discussion, Councilman Barrow, seconded by Councilman Laplesq
moved that the 'Council keep the present judge, A. T. Healy. I,oti.on

Thompson be designated, pursuant to his duties as I«ayor, as supervisor
of the playground, parks and municipal buildings and perform any other
datios the Council may see fit to turn over to him note or in the future.
