W. T. Clark, Notary _ublic, administered the oath of office to
Mayor -Elect E. L. Thompson, who in.turn ad- inistered the oath of
+ office to Councilmen -Llect W. T. Clark, J. MI. Bryant, ,dgar .0'j. Shafer,
J. F. Maples,;,. H. gtwood, H. Hollis Barrow and J. A. Pressley, Jr
The meeting was then called to order by Mayor Thompson, who Icalled
for a motion for the appointment of a temporary chairman for the
v meeting.
Councilman Naples, seconded by Councilman Shafer, nominated H Hollis
Barrow and Councilman iressley seconded by Councilman Barrow, nomin-
ated W. H. Atwood. Thereupon 6ouncilman Pressley, seconded by
Councilman Atwood, moved that nominations 'be closed. Mbtion carried.
H. Hollis Barrow was bppointed temporary Chairman by unanimous vote,;
and took, the chair.
Nominations for president of the Council were - thereupon declared in
order and Councilman'Pressley, seconded by Councilman Shafer nomin-
ated ',d. T >. Clark for President of the Council.` Councilman Maples,

nd Councilman,',J Tj. Clark nominations whosed.
-41 then took over.
With a weekly pay -roll due on Tuesday, Councilman Shafer; seconded+
by Councilman Naples, moved that the checks be written, the employees ` -
endorse them and the Clerk cash them out of money in the cash box, said
checks to be signed and deposited as soon as the new signature cards
can be made up for the bank. Notion carried by poll, as follows.:

Nominations for Vice - president were declared in order and Councilman'
Shafer, seconded by Councilman Presley, nominated J. M. Bryant. t
Councilaan Barrow, seconded by Counci.mai I- Japles, moved that nominations J
be closed. Motion carried ands, Councilman Bryant declared Vice - President.
In making his conuriAtee appointments, Pros. Clark 'stated ' that these were
tentative and subject to change if it proved advisable. His appoint-
ments were as follows:
