The meeting was called to order by Pres. Barrow with Mayor Vander
boegh and Councilmen Gladden2 Shafer, Faust, Sapos, 'Brown, and
Barrow responding to roll call..
Pres. ?Barrow read the notice for the meeting which had been called
for the purpose of conducting &ny and all business that might have
come before the regular meeting on December 3, which was not held
for lack of a quorum.
Minutes of the regular meeting of November 19 and of the special
meeting of November 26 were respectively approved as -read.
F. H. Peirce appeared before the meeting with a' request for the lower-
ing of the minimum boning requirements on his property at Ludlum Road;
and Sunset Drive. His request was referred to the Advisory Zoning
Board with the recommendation that the present 1400 sq. ft minimum
for a one - family residence be lowered to 1200 sq., ft. in line with
adjoining property.
CVm. 'Nehle was the next to appear 'before the Council with a request for
permit to operate a legitimate theater under canvas, with `a stock
company and occasional big -name stars, opening some time in January
and running thru to May. The tent they propose: to erect is 60 by
100 ft. with a seating capacity of about 1�000t and a'weekly change
of program scheduled. Inasmuch as such a venture would present
polices fire and sanitary problems and liability the Council with -
held its decsion, until neXt week's regular meeting and suggested that
Mr. wehle contact City Attorney Ward in the meantime.
Dexter Saunders appeared before the Council on behalf of the permit for
a guest house on the Gilbert Adair place. Following a discussion
Councilman Shafer9 seconded by Councilman Saposq, moved that the per-
mit be granted as per revised plans and specifications. Motion carried.
At this point Councilman Faust and Pres. Barrow asked to be excuseds
and Vice -Pres. Brown took over.
Dan Bufano representing himself and other interested property owners
asked the 6ouncil for the extension of S. First Ave. from its present
end at S- 3rd St to S. 8th St. He was advised that nothing could be
done until the necessary right -of -way had been granted by all property
owners affected.
Following a complaint presented by Alvy McDonald that the operation of
a carpenter and millwork shop across the street from his home had cut
an approved x$59000. 40-On to $3000- and that he would like to know
whether he is in a residential area or business zone, it was suggested
that action be withheld until next week's meeting and request the shop
operators to be present.

Streets & Parks: Chairman "Sapos reported delivery of the Huber
Maintainer that morning but that the mower blade and bull dozer
attachments were still to be received.
Follo��'ing a discussions Councilman Gladden2 seconded by Councilman '
Shafer, moved that the Town Club.be permitted to have the "juke"
organ at the Community Building repaired and have it fixed to play
for nickels and the money to be used for the ujakeep of the machine.
Motion carried.
Applications for building permits2 together with plans already
checked by Inspector Smithq were gone "overt' as follows:
P. C'. Kendall, porch addition, $400; J.M. Bryantq porch addition,
$12000.9 with FHA authorization; R. J Crittenden 10 x 14 storage
sheds .$400.; Paul Laessle, 10 x 14 storage shed $400.; H. A.
Vander Linden. 22 x 24 utility building (farm) 1000.; Manuel
Holmes,q store addition, $150.,
Councilman Shaferf seconded by Councilman Saposq moved that the
applications be approved as presented. Motion carried.
Councilman Shafer reported that he had been asked to extend to the
Council the thanks of the South Miami 'Coach Line for the way in
which the recent bus hearing had been conducted.
The Clerk reported receipt of a written schedule of rates for U:Drive
It and Taxis of the South Miami Taxi.
With a good many stray L. agai7 at larger some of them with mange, it was agreed to enforce" vs dog tag ordinance and give dog owners
a week in which to get their animals licensed, and then have the Humane
Society truck come out to get the strays.
Complaints were registered that the local cigarette machines were also
set to collect the Miami tax and the matter was to be checked.
