MINUTES OF'THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTH MIAMI HELD WEDNES-
DAY EVENINGS OCTOBER 309 A.D. 1946 AT
THE CITY HALL AT 8200 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Barrow with Mayor Vander
boeghp Councilmen Gladdenq Shaferg Saposq Faustj Maples$ Brown and
Barrou responding to roll call.
aresident Barrow read the notice for the meeting which had been
called for the purpose of discussing road repairs and 'unfinished
business on an application for a building permit.
T. Shuman,, on behalf of J. M. Hale, presented a photostatic copy
of the plans for the proposed buildings on which changes had been
indicated. Councilman Gladden, seconded by CounciLnan Shafery moved'
that these plans be accepted as O.K. and permit issued in accordance
with original motion on October 15. Motion carried.
Chief McKinney reported on a survey made with Street Chairman Sapas.
and E. C. Luccock, road builder, who offered to rent his machines
to the City by the hour. The main problem Prom a standpoint of
safety and health was in the colored sections where it was suggested
that the best solution was to plow up the roadsg where necessary
then rock them up and rade them. hnccock's offer was $6.00 per
hour for the graders $5.00 per hour for a roller, at cost per
cu. yard at pit plus 350 per yard to haulp or rental of truck outright
at $3000 per hour. It was his belief that the work could be done ,in
two weeks or less.
Following a discussion Councilman Maples seconded by Councilman
Brown., moved that the 6ouncil go ahead with the work and do as much
as possible for the approximately $900.00 that is on hand for such work.'
Motion carried. It was agreed to plow upp add rock-and grade, and
let Luccock haul the rock at 35¢ Per yard.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned in regular
order.
