The meeting was`called'to order by Pres. Barrow with Counci9men-
Gladdeng Faust, Maples;, Brown and Barrow responding to roll call.

Minutes of the regular meeting of May 7 were approved as read.
Regular order of business was suspended to listen to the request,of,
Gene Hunt to put up a temporary water melon stand between the Coach
Line and the Standard -Oil Station, to consist of a 10 x 20 canopy
for a period of three or four months. Following a discussiono re-
garding the proper disposition of the rinds, etc., Councilman
Maplesq seconded. by Councilman Faustq moved that permit be ;granted
Gene Hunt for a temporary shelters 20 x 40 t canvas canopy on wood
frame for a- period of not over four monthsq everything to be re-
moved at the end of that period, and everything to be maintained
in sanitary condition at all times.Potion' carried. '

was brought up before the Council by J P. Canington, who stated'
that as a result of three different surveys here are three dif-

Reports of standing committees were as follows:
Finance: Receipt of a check from the County for $6,232.49 for the
City's certificates on the CAIMMIDGL LAINNS property recently purch-
ased by the South 'Miarni Riding Club, was reported and Councilman
Gladder: askod that a vote of thanks be given the 8lerk for keeping

behind this transaction over the ,year, and making it possible for
the City to realize this settlement.

Sanitation: O.K. It was agreed that the ordinance regarding gar -
r
bage cases be enforced, in view of the current polio situation.
Fire. O.K.
Buildings: Absent
Police: Chairman Brown reported that W. U. Tanner had resigned and
that he had put on H. S. Wilson, who can stay on until the farming
season in Septe"mberl on a temporary basis, starting May 20. There
was also a discussion on the need for ,additional men on the force with
the possibility of putting on 8 -hr. shifts. There was also a dis-
cussion on doing away with the school buso now that other transporta-
tion is available:

Councilman Faust, seconded by Councilman Gladdens, moved that H. S.
Nilson be put on temporary duty at 31:,10.00 per month as of May 20.

Chief McKiiu -icy was instructed to work out with Coral Gables joint
operation of synchronized traffic lights on Red Road at U.S. #1
and Sunset Drive.
Pres. Barrow stated that Volunteer Firemen were trying to get the
old CCC Camp on North Kendall Drive for a youth center, and the
Counci.L expressed itself as being in full accord with such a
project.
Councilman Faust raised the question of whether or not The Rodney
Miller,Co would have to take out a contractorts license for super-
vising the bakery construction, which is on a clay labor basis. It,
was the general consensus of opinion that such a license would have,
to be taken out but the Clerk was instructed to check with Atty.
I`rard, on the matter.
Councilman Gladden, seconded by Councilman Faust, moved that Ordinance
#153, caption of which followsl be placed on third and final reading
in its entirety. Motion carried.

Thereupon Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Gladden, moved

In connection with the request for a change of zoning along N'
4th Ave. to be taken up by the rdvisory Zoning 'Board at its
next hearing, Councilman Browill seconded by Councilman Fauutp
moved that if the recommentation is for a C -.l use along N. 4th
.eve. from N. 4th Street to N. 8th Stroet for a width of 100 ft
exclusive of the 111W requirenientt that pormit to Solaripe Hydroponics
(Tyler and Trimble) for their laboratory bui�ding be issued. Motion
Carried.
