HELD TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 2t A.D.
1946 AT THE CITY HALL AT 8:00- P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Brown, with Mayor
Vanderboegh and Councilmen Gladde r Sapost Faust, Maples and Brown
responding to roll call.
Due to the absence of Atty. 'Ward, Mayor Vand'erboegh announced that no
action would be taken at this meeting; on the package store license
applications on hand. n
Minutes of the regular mect'ing of I4':arch 19 were approved as read.
A request for a beer and wine license by James Berry at a new loca-
tion in the colored section giving a 1938 Court record for his wife
Florine Berry, was taken under consideration,. In view of the fact
that there was just the one case and the verbal C.K. of the State
Beverage Dept. for the granting of the State license, Councilman
Faust, seconded by Councilman Sapos, moved that the license be
granted. Motion carried.

Sanitation: D.K. except for lack of help on the truck. Councilman
Faust, seconded by Councilman Maplesl, moved that B. W. Thompson
be paid at the rate of time and one -half for ten hours of over-
time work last week. Motion carried by poll, as follows

It was also reported that "J6 I. McKinney had started back on the
truck as helper.
At this point Pres. Barrow joined the meeting and took over.
Fire: U.K.
Police: In connection with the recent tragic accident at the Red
Road crossings which had cost the .rife of Nadine Mayo Councilman
Brown, seconded by Councilman Maples moved that the 6ity do every-
thing powsible to get proper warning signals installed at the two
railroad crossings in South Miami. Motion carrier.
Buildings: Bldg. Inspector J. W. Smith presented an application of
77. 4. Canington for a building permit for a block plant shed with
tin roofs stating that the w+dvioory zoniiVf Board would agree to what-
ever the Council decides on the matter. Councilman Maples seconded
by Councilman Faust moved that permit be granted to 11. 0. 6anington
to ,tit on the tin roofs nailing it into 2" lumber and ends to be
roller. Motion carried, in the matter of 2 x 4 rafters used in
robe construction by J. '0. Cotton, it was agreed to let him go ahead
with this jab providing he tires them in and adds another rafter every
other rafter to make it safe;.. but require 2: x 6 rafters on future ,jobs.
There was also a discussion on conflicting wells and septic tanksq as
building is increasing and Inspector Smith was to get in touch with a
man who might be interested in.putting,in a water supply system.
Inspector Smith also reported that the load test was being made on
the theater building.
Following a discussion on the subject, Councilman _Browns seconded .by
Councilman Sapos, moved that the Taxi matter be left "as is "y issu-
ing licenses only to established concerns for reciprocity purposes
onto local people: Notion carried.
The question of daylight saving was tabled until the next mee'ting,t to
see what other communities will do in this matter.
Cowzcilma i Brown, seconded by 'Councilman Gladden, moved that Ordinance
#152, caption of which follows, be placed on first reading in its
entirety. Motion carried.

Follow ng this - readings Councilman .Maplesy seconded by Councilman
Sa os moved that Ordinance 7#152 be placed on second reading by
caption only. Motion carried.
Thereupon Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Gladden, moved
that ordinance #152 be placed on third and final reading in its
entirety. Motion carried.
Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Sapos, then moved that
Ordinance #152 be adopted as read. Motion carried by unanimous vote
polled as follows
