OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTH
MIAMI HELD TUESDAY EVENING, JULY 241
A.D. 1945 AT THE CITY HALL AT
} 8 200 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Pres. Barrow with Mayor Vander
boegh and all members of the Council present.
Pres. Barrow read the notice for the meeting which had been called
for the purpose of taking final action on the new budgetg for con-
sideration of the Millage Ordinances the payment of outstanding
bills and any emergency business that might come before the meeting.
Councilman Gladden, seconded by Councilman Browns moved that Ordinance
#148, caption of which followsq be placed on third and final reading'
in its entirety. Motion carried% and Ordinance #148 read in its
entirety.
ORDINANCE NO. 148
APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH MIAMI FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING
JULY 1 A.D. 1945 AND ENDING JUNE 30
A.D. 146.
Thereupon, Councilman Browny seconded by Councilman Pope., moved
that Ordinance #148 be adopted as read. Motion carried by polh
as follows:

Councilman Gladden, seconded by Councilman Sapost moved that Ordinance
#149, caption of which followsq be placed on first reading in its
entirety. Motion carried, and Ordinance x#149 read in its entirety.

GZNCY FUND. AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING
AND COLLECTION OF SAME.
Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Gladderi2 then moved that
Ordinance #149 be ;placed on second reading by caption only. Motion
carried.

Councilman Maples reported that the Volunteer Fire Department is in
process of re or g anization tat the depth of water in the fire
'and
wells had not et increased in spite e of the rains to date.
Councilman Brown reported his attendance at a meeting the previous
evening, regarding the Virginia Key projectq at which various
organizations and factions were represented both in favor of and
against the projeett and that in his opinion the importance of a
deep water harbor for Miami must not be overlooked but questioned
the development of the Virginia Key project from the standpoint of
accessibility from the mainland the possibility of extreme damage
in the event of a storm, both for water and air facilities.

regular orders
