EVENING? MARCH 28, A.D. 1,945 AT THE CITY
HALL AT 8:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Fres. Barrow, with all members
of the Council present. Mayor Vanderboegh, joined the meeting
shortly after it had convened.
P,res.:Barrow read the notice for the meeting which had been called
for the ur�ose of discussing proposed changes: in the Sanitary

Chairman Pope stated that there had been a chance to get Newt
Strickland and L. M. Jackson and that he had suggested putting them on
the trash truck, one at $35.00 per week and.the other at $40.00 per
week. There was considerable discussion on the subje,ctg from var-
ious angles, and it was also Chairman Popets suggestion that men
for that job be put on an hourly basis and paid only for time actu-
ally put in.
.Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman MaplesT moved that one man
be put on at not over $40.00 per week for 48 hours,, at any work he
might be put at, in any departments and to be checked in and out at
the City Hall. Motion carried by polls as follows:

Chairman Pope also stated that his work with Pan— American is about
to take him out of the country and left it up to the Council whether
to resign or be given a leave of absence. ,1fter a discuss one it
was decided to grant him a leave of absence for 6 months, and that
if he is not back b' that time, he will turn in his resignation.
He stated that at last reports it was quite possible that he would be
back here quite frequently, as his work would take him only to Cuba.
Councilman Maples also reported that Hobart Miller had put a price
of $99.90 on this jail plumbing repairs, and it was agreed that he be
instructed to go ahead with the work.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned in regular
order.
