The meeting was called to order by Tres. Brosvlj with Vayor VaZderboegh
and Councilmen Gladden, Barrow? I:'aples7 Chinni Bcivau,tt and Brown and

Mrs. Robt. Riley, president of the °South I,fiami Home Demonstration Club
appeared before the Council with her recordsl in reference to the pur-
chase of certain equipment at the Community Building-. She stated
that a barrel of dishes had been donated by Mr. Fuchs and that two
chovider suK.pers had netted respectively $63.75 and $51.571 that the
equi�"ment in the building had been, purchased °thru aid of community
benefits, that the Home Demonstration Club wanted the privilege of
keeping the Community Building, kitchen clean. There was a discussion
between Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Riley regarding another benefit held. Trs.
Paley sAid they would like a small cupboard for their exclusive use
in which to keep their lace cloth, silver ladle, etc-1 but that they
have no claim on the dishes silver- i ?aare or kitchen equipment? etc.
Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Barrowq moved that the report
from Mrs. Riley be accepted and that things at the Community Building_
are for the use of all organizations. , :otion carried.
Next to alpear before the Council was Mr. Said Larkins? 'with a request,
for permission to erect a 20 x 30 storage shed out of some second hand
lumber, to house things he now has stored around with various relatives.
It was his intention later to convert this into a garage and home work- ,
shop. His request fora building permit had been turned down because
the request conflicted with zoi•iing regulations. He stated that it was
his intention to beautify it but A present he would have to board it
up with whatever he has'. Atty. :lard raised the question of the "! P.B
It was suggested that I,_r. Darkins take the matter uI with them, and
that the Council take his request under advisement.
Tirr. Thoml son raised the question as to who has charge of the equipment
at the Community BuiMing,, and va4.is told that the farmer order making him
custodian still stood:.
The resitn- -ition of Councilman Chinng as of toniE^ht9 who is moving to
LAamil next presented. Councilman Dennettq seconded by Councilman'
Vaples moved that the resignation be accepted with regrets and that the
Council thank him for his wonderful services. Motion carried. s

In accordance with the provisions of' Section. 182 Ordinance
#98,, a hearing was held before the advisory ZoninJ Board on 'ednes-
day, September 20, 1944 at eight o'clock at the South Miami City
Hall to consider a request for change uz zoning in certain portions
of the '.7. A. LARKIP1t3 SUBDIVT_OIc .T. With two exceptions all interested
property owners were present and after due consideration and with the
consent of the owners present, the Board makes the follov:,i.ng recom-
ruendationr

further recommend that if you see fit to authorize this change
you go on record to•that effect but withhold action by .Ordinance
until such time as we are in a position to make further recommends-
bons on which we are now working

Sanitation: Absent. Pres. Brown, on behalf of Chairman Faust, brought
up the question of .installing a new m ,tor in the trash truck, and
questioned the necessity of calling; f<.r bids, but :ytty. ',lard ruled
that this is a matter of repairs and with the present difficulty in
obtaining parts and the existence of ceiling prices it will not be
required to advertise. It was agreed that the rep&irs be made.
Fire: O.K. Chairman Barrow reported that the hose connections ordered
for the booster wiere on the way.
Police Chairman Bennett stated that he would like to recornr,end the
appointment of L. ';. ;,,cKinney, as of Sea tember 30 to succeed H. C.
Dre, vn, and to add :. J. LaGoy to, the force, as of (.ctQber 1,, each at a
salary of ��180.00 per month, with the further recommendation that from
now on 3 men (chief and 2 men) be kept, so that no man would have to
ride alone at night. Councilman Parrowq seconded by Councilman taples,
m<..ved that Chaairman Beru7ett's recommendations be accepted in full.

pointing another Councilman to fill the vacancy occasioned by Council
man Chiral s resignation, but it was decided to hold that aver until
