The meeting v)as called to order by I res Brown with Lfayor Vander- boegh, Atty. G. ',ard and Councilmen Bostwick, Barrow, Chinn Bennett and Brown responding; to roll cell. I4linutes of the regular meeting of April 4th, were approved as read. Regular order was suspended at this point to permit a delegation from Cambridge Lawns, accompanied by alproximately 18 residents, to pre- sent requests set up in a letter containing; 7 separate resolutions which briefly were as follows I. Setting up a Cambridge Lawns Iti "en's Assn and pledging them- selves to register and vote in the City election. 2. Requesting the City to provide a playground adjacent to Cambridge Lawns, 3 Requesting the City to clear out the canal at Cambridge Lawns. 4. Petitioning the City for weekly trash removal 5 asking for the return of frequent police patrol and discharge of their duties. 6. Petitioning the City to reduce speeding on streets thru Cambridge Lawns and asking the erection of "stop" and "Caution" signs. 7 'Petitioning the City to exert its influence to provide Cam bridge Lawns residents with bus service. In the course of the discussions which followed Councilman Faust joined the meeting It was agreed that the Council would look into each of the requests and see what could be done about them.._ In regard to the two signs put ul, by residents of Cambridge Lawns, forbidding neLyoe.s to use their streets (and taken down by the. police) Atty. `lard stated that such matters could be handled only by reason- able zoning and reasonable curfevs and that only by making; N. 15th Street a 1,rivate street ;could they have the right to prohiLit its use by neg'roes. The next delegation consisted of a committee of girls, headed by Helen Tomlinson, to thank the Council for the use of the Community Building for the Saturday night dances for service men and to ask that the "juke" organ be ropairea and it was agreed that something be done: about it. Police: Chairman 2ennett reported that it will not be possible to get a new Ford but that some Plymouths are available.
