CITY COUNCIL CF SGUTH I!°IAVI ITMD TUESDAY
EVENING, APRIL 4t A.D. 1944 AT THE CITY
11ALT AT 8:00 P.M.
The meeting was called'- tc order by Pres. Brown, with 11ayor Vanderboegh
and all members of the Councils and Atty. H. F. ?'lard present.
Minutes of the regult -tr meeting of Itiarch 21 were approved as read.
A letter from the Fla -. League of b4unicipalities enclosing a copy of
an ad by the Fla. ,motor Lines commending the work of the police
throughout the state, was read.

de artment. In the course
of the discussion that followed the members of the Council ;agreed to
act as a nucleus and`each one was to get one additional man.
Police: Chairman Bennett reported that he had been advised that
there was a, possibility of getting a new automobile through govern ='
ment releasesl and was awaiting a reply to a letter of inquiry.
Streets & Parks: Chairman Chinn - reported that he believes it best
to forget trying to get the County on the street job and undertake
the work ourselves thru private contractors, and was trying to get
in some more bids.
BOildings. Chairman Bostwick reported that the new pump had been
installed but that it was a ,question whether the pump would work:on
the present well which has now caved in. It was suggested that the
new pump be moved to the Community House where there is a 4" well
and put the small pump up in the City Hallq but 'J. H Angerman
stated that a new well would have to be drilled regardless, and
after a discussions Councilman Bostwick seconded by Councilman
Bennett, moved that a new 311 well(C C1. ZO per ft.) be drilled for the
new pump at the City Hall. Motion carried.
At this point I4ayor'Vanderboegh was given the floor to make the preser
tation;of an artist's reproduction of the Declaration of independence
as a gift to the City from Mr. Charles Fuchs. Councilman Bostwick
seconded by Councilman Bennettt moved that Mr. Fuchs be m- i:tten a
letter of thanks and appreciation. Motion carried.
The sale of the South Yiami Coach Line, Inc. was discussedg but
inasmuch as it was a: sale of stock and capital assets and not the
franchisee there was nothing to be done about it. It was reported
that the Cambridge Lawns loop had been discontinued.
