Minutes of the regular meeting of j une 2 were approved as read.

Mr.. E. L. Thompson appeared before the Council to ask what could be
done about a the
picnic on Fourth of July, at the Community Park, and was
instructed to go ahead and work one out. He
also reported that Tubs.
Helen Baxter had had to go back to her regular vorkq' and that Mrs. Es-
telle Horne had agreed to fill the vacancy, and Councilman Bostmwick,
seconded by Councilman Bennottg moved that T,'rs. Estelle Horne be appointed
in Mrs. Baxter's place at the `.x'50.00

the same period , thru summer vacation. Notion carried by polls as follows:

Mayor !landerboeh brought up the matter of the First Aid Center at the
Community Bldg. stating that Mrs.

At this point the meeting was adjourned until 9:30 in order that Council-

and Bennett might be excused to take part in a,

:'kith the resumption of business at 9:30 reports of standing committees
were declared in order and were as follows:

Sanitation. Mayor Vanderboegh reported that two negroes had been hired
to help clean urn colored town,.
In line with the increase in labor wages] Councilman Brown, seconded
by Councilman Bostwick, moved that
X2.50 per day for the substitute
on the garbage truck (including Sundays) and $3.00 day for the

substitute in the fire department) be paid. Motion carried by polio

Fire. With Melton just returned from vacation, and taken ill with
appendicitis, it was agrees] that a substitute be paid for the time
being.
Streets A Parks: It was reported that J,tr. 13. 0. Chi had agreed to
serve on the Councils and Councilman Bostwick seconded by Councilman
Bennett, moved that hd be appointed to fill the vacancy on the Council.

as Mr. Chinn was sworn ins he assume the duties of Chairman of Streets
and Parks Motion carried..

The matter of the audit was to be held over, and the Council to meet at
the City Hall on June 23, at an informal meeting, to work on the bud.. -,
get for the coming fiscal year.
The Mayor and Atty. :lard brought up the matter of a location for a`
plant for making rubber out of pines, to be undertaken by Mr. Gustav
Weber stating that the process produces no odor or noise, to speak
of`. Itty. Ward was to see what would be heeded and what could be

worked out:
Councilman Bostwick2 seconded by Councilman Bennett, moved that out-
standing taxes on a 10 acre tract in 36- 54 -40, now out of the City
thru Quo Warrantor be settled at face value and no interest. Motion
carried by poll, as follows

The following bills were submitted for approval and payment;`

Councilman Browns seconded by Councilman BostWickt moved that the
bills be paid as read. Motion carried by poll, as follows:

A letter from the ,South Miami District Chamber of Commerce, addressed
to the "Finance Chairman,, was reads staging that the Chamber will not
look to the City for any money in the forthcoming fiscal year.
The meeting was adjourned in regular order at approximately 10:20 P.M.
