The meeti2-4gr was called to order by Pres. Fausty with Mayor Vanderboegh, Councilmen Gladden, Bostwickl Bennett and Faustj and Atty. Ward present. 11inutes of the regular meeting of April 21 were approved as read. Councilman Brown joined the meeting during the read i'4; of the minutes. A letter from H. H Wiggins enclosing some Southern Drainage Certificates on lots in, C_U,MRIDGE LAVMS which he offered to the City in exchange for some City certificrtes on lots in AMMICAN TQ7,1INSI EIS9 was read. Follow- ing a discussion in which Atty. ','lard pointad out the legal angles* Council- man Bostwick, seconded by Councilman Bennett moved that the City try to work out a deal with Mr. Tligginsq whereby the City would take the Drainage Certificates he offered, in even-exchange for City certificates two or more years old I on certain lots in AMCRICAIT TOVINSITPS., at face value,, and get cash for full face and interest on everything less than two years olds as the City cannot lawfully compromise the lattar. Motion carried by poll, as follows: Gladden yes Bostwick yes Brown yes Bennett yes Faust yes Reports of standing '!committees were as follows.* Finance8 0. Ke, Financial statement for April was read. There was also a discussion regarding the street light bills and contracts in the event of black -out rulings or reduced lighting. Atty. Ward promised to look into the matter. Sanitations O.K. Fire& O.K. Chairman Brown reported on several good grass fires and a ?rr—e fn colored town that totally destroyed one house and severely ;dammed the two immediately adjoining it. Polices O.K. Councilman Bennett reported that the American Legion Post felt that the City should get the service flag and they would service its that they did not want a plaque but a flag and a higher pole. lie also stated that someone had offered to donate a 20 fte piece of 2J" pipe and suggested that the City get LO ft. of 2" and LO ft of pipe. Councilman Brown offered to weld it. Councilman Gladdeno seconded by,Councilman Bostwick moved that this be done* Motion carried. The question of Councilman Corefs continued absence from meetings was brought up at this time and Atty. Ward advised that action be taken by re- solution. Councilman Gladdens seconded by Councilman Bennottq moved that the ,necessary resolution be prepared and read. Motion oarriedg and I Atty. Ward dictated Resolution ;:'2201 as follows; .,, RESOLUTION PTO. 220 A RESOLUTION RELATIVEM TO TH STATUS OF A. B. CORE AS CITY COUNCIL ?IAN. WHEREASi it appears from the Minutes of the Council Veetings that Councilman A. B. Core has been absent from the regular meetings Of the City Council since and including February 32 A.D. 19422 -bei more than three meetings9 and M]EREAS, no excuses have been granted for such absence and no explanation has been madeq and 'MREASj the laws and ordinances of the City of South Miami provide that such absence shall constitute ,a ground for removal from the Council NO'W9 TMWOREf BE IT RESOLVED BY THE t &1YOR !STD CITY COUNCIL: That the said A. B. Core be and he is hereby required to show cause in person before the City Council at its next regular meeting on the. third Tuesday in May to -wits May 19 A.D. 1942v why his removal as a member of the City �ouncil of the City of South Miami should not be officially declared and confirmed,at said meeting and a vacancy in said office declared to exist. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution, certified to by the City Clerk, be delivered in person or mailed to the said A. B. Core within five days from date hereof. BE IT FUR f-R RESOLVED that in the absence of an appearance at said meetings that the said office of A. B Core as City Councilman be declared vacant and said A. B. Core be declared removed as ;City Councilman' of the City of South Miami effective as of midnight of Nay 199 A.D. 1942. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of Alay, A. D. 1942. Councilman Browne seconded by Councilman Bostwick, moved that Resolution #220 be adopted as read.
