The meeting was called to crier by Prop, Faust, with Councilmen .
Gladden, Brown, Bennett and Faust, and Atty. 'lard present.
Minutes of the regular meeting of April 7 were approved as read.
Reports of standing co'rtinittees were as follows:
Finance: O.K.
Sanitation: Upon motion of Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman
Gladden., it was decided to drop the fire, theft and windstorm insurance
on the trash truck, originally required by the finance company, and now
paid out. motion carried.
Fire O.K. The Clerk was instructed to follow up the hose order placed
several months ago, and on which delivery was now due.
Streets Parks: Absent.
Police_: Chairman 'Bennett stated that Officer E. ° „'.' L,cKinney had served
his three - month's probationery period satisfactorily, and made the mo-
tion , seconded by 'Council Gladden, that n,cKinney be placed on full
basis at ,, )110.00 per month, effective as of April 1. Motion carried-
r by poll, as follows:

The question of putting up a service flab; to honor all South Miami
residents now in service, was brought tip eind Councilman Bennett was
delegated to confer with the local Legion Post on the matter.-

In the matter of the railroad signals for the two crossings in South
Miami, Atty. Yard stater] that the Railroad's Attorney had advised the
St Augustine office regardinfs this and that they realized something
deeds to be done, but had taken ac,, further steps. It was suggested
that the City Clerk wr to a letter, askint° them to state their in-
tentions on the signals.
With the '.14A project on tht: codification of the charter suspended be-
fore the work j ^ias completed, it was decided to ask that all material
at hand be sent back to the City rather than spend additional funds
to have the work completed by a private firm. and the M erk ;ras in-
