The meeting was called to order by Vice - President Faust with Acting-Mayor
Vanderboegh.) Councilmen Gladden? Bostwickq Bennett and Paustt and Atty.

Minutes of the regular meeting of February 39 and of the special meeting
of February 10 were respectively read and approved.
Councilman Brown joined the meeting during the reading of the minutes.
A letter from Harold H. Armstrong addressed to the late &iayor Glass,
regarding the placement of "amusement games" and licenses therefor, was
i read. No action was taken at this time, in view of the pending amendment
to the present ordinance.
A letter urging the City to buy defense bonds during, Defense Bond Week
even though they might have to be cashed in later, was read. Inasmuch as
the City's,budget is not set up for anything but operating funds the At -.
torney advised that the City has no right to purchase obligations of any
kind but must adhere strictly to the budget which does not provide for a
`sinking fund for investment purposes

Two new tires for the truck locatedt after much difficulty,.

Police: O.K.
Streets & Parks Absent
ui di s: Work started on addition to City Hall. It was agreed that the
windows in the present west wall of the jail be moved to the north wall,
thereby providing a solid wall between fail and new roomy and that E. L.
Thompson.do the work.
The proposed "pin ball" ordinance was read over completely and referred
back to Atty. Ward for final drafting, with a motion by Councilman Brown
seconded by Councilman Gladden, that the operator's license be set at
at $140.00, each location license $25,00 for skill machines) and $250.04
for "other machines "t and that transfer of location license be set at
$5.00 per machine. MOtion,carried

be named president of the Council6 Motion carried.

Upon the recommendation of Councilman Gladden; Councilman Brown, seconded
by Councilman Bennettq moved that Councilman Bostwick be named Vice-
;;,President. Motion carried.
President Faust asked that all Chairman retain their present departments
that the new Council member to be appointed became Chairman of Sanitation.
Councilman Browns seconded by Councilman Gladden, moved that Resolution
#216 be read. Motion carried.

the Council of the City of South Mianiq Florida
NOV19 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the signature of H. W.
` Vanderboegh as President of the City Council on the checks of the City of

Miami Florida be cancelled as of the close of business on February
17, 1942, and the signature of T. J. Faust as President of the City
Council of the City of South Mamie Florida be honored as of February 189
1942 and until further notice

Following a discussions Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Brown
moved that E. L. Thompson be retained as City Judge for the time being
and on the same basis, as the former judgeq namely. $50900 per month.
Motion carried by poll, as follows:
Gladden yes Bostwick yes Brown yes Bennett ysa Faust yes
Councilman Bostwickq seconded by Councilman Browny moved that $2$.00 Judge's
fees for the first half of February be paid to the personal representative
of the Frederick Glass Estate or to his widowo as sole heir -at -law under
order of the Probate Court holding no administration necessary. Motion
warried. (No poll necessaryy as payment of Judge's Pees each month was
c authorized under blanket pay roll payments on March 4y 1941)
The following bills were presented for approval and payments

Councilman Browny seconded by Councilman Bostwickt moved that the bills
be paid as read. Motion-carried by polls as follows;

There being no further businesst the meeting was adjourned in regular order
at approximately 10425 P.lh.
