The meetir was called to order by Vice -Pres. Faust? °with Councilmen. Gladden
Bostwick: Brown). Bennett and Faust and Attye. H. G. Ward responding to
roll call.,
Vice -Pies. Faust
read the notice for the meeting, which had been called for
the purpose of taking final; action on the bids for the proposed addition to
the City Ha11% and sighed by H. t'* Vanderboegh as acting - mayor2 owing to
the sudden death of Mayor Glass.

A RESOLUTION IN MEMORY ORY OF FREDERICK GLAS4 V-1H0
PASSED AWAY ON TIM TENTH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1942
AND WHO SERVED AS MAYOR OF TIE], CITY OF SOUTH
MIAMI5 FLORIDA, FROM THE FIRST DAY OF MARCH
1939 TO THE DATE OF HIS DEATH.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MIAMI' FLORIDA:
THAT, X]MREAS, the Divine Providence in His wisdom has seen fit to take
from us our beloved Mayor, Dr., Frederick Glass, and
VA-MiREAS9 his passing is a shock to our entire community and a loss of
a great civic leader, and
VWHEREAS$ this loss will be felt not only within the boundaries of the
@ity of South Miami, but throughout South Florida as a whole.
NOSY, THEREFORE, , BE, IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
South Miami, Floridal at its special assembly as follows':
FIRST. That we do hereby officially record the death of our
Mayor, Dr. Frederick Glass.
SECOND: That we do hereby extend our sympathy and condolence
to his widow, to the other members of his family and to his
close friends.
THIRD: That this Council and the City of South Miami has
suffered an irreparable loss in the death of ,Frederick Class
aria that we dog by this resolutionq publicly record the
loss of a great citizen and builder of this community and one
whose unselfish civic and benevolent work will live forever
1h the 'Annals of this City.

FOURTH: That this original resolution shall be spread upon the
Minutes of the council breeting of the City of South Miami?
Florida, a copy shall be sent to his widow, and a copy sent to
the press.
PASSED AND ADOFTED this 10th day of February, A. D. 1942.
There'uponq Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman. Bostwick, moiled that
Resolution #215 be adopted as read. Motion carried.
Councilman Bostwick, seconded by Councilman Browne moved that an appropriate
floral offering be sent to the funeral of Mayor Glass. Totion carried.
Councilman Bostwick, seconded by Councilman Browng coved that all business
houses in South I:4iami be requested to close from 2 to 4 P.M. on the day
of the funeral services. Potion carried.
Councilman Bostwick then reviewed the bids for the proposed City Hall ad-
dition, which had been as followsc

He retorted that he had received very favorable comments on the type of
work and method of business carried 'on by C. B. Snyder, ands taking all,
things into consideration, recommended that the City contract for the
complete job and award that to Snyder providing he will post a 01,000.00'
completion bond. Councilman Gladdens seconded by Councilman Bennett„
moved that the bid be awarded to C. B. Snyder for $599.009 provided he
furnishes a 012000.00 performance and..completion bond. Motion carried by
poll, as follows:
