s Faust, and Atty. Vard responding to roll call.

Minutes of the regular meeting of January 20 were approved,as read.
A delegation from the Home Demonstration Club2 headed by Adrs. C. F.. Snyder
f appeared before the Council to ask that a gas stove pe purchased for the
Community Buildiag9 stating that Shelley's had a repossessed stove that
elNm that could be had for $55 - -.00, and that if the City purchased it
the Home Demonstration Club would assume the responsibility of the ,gas
bill. At this point, Councilman Bostwick joined the meeting.
Following a discussion, Councilman Bostwick seconded by Councilman Gladden,
r moved that the City purchase the stove at $55.00 on the best terms
` possible, making a down payment if necessary: and with the understanding
that the City assume no responsibility on the purchase of gas for operating
same. Motion carried by poll, as follows:

In aas� effort to prevent a repetition of the fatal accident which took the
lives of Mr. and Mrs. -'K. L. Martin at the ,Red Road crossing, a recommendation
Pas presented by the South Miami District Chamber of Commerce, asking that
M An ordinance be passed regulating the speed of trains passing through
South Miami and requiring the installation of proper danger signals at
the Red Road and the Sunset Drive crossings. Councilman Bostwick, seconded`
by Councilman Gladden, moved that the City Attorney draw up the proper
ordinance regulating the speed of trains and contact the Railroad Company
to ask what action it will take with reference to the danger signal at
Red Road. h9otion carried.
Per legal notice published in accordance with the provisions of the Charter,
bids for the proposed addition to the City Hall were opened at this time
and consisted of the following

Councilman Gladden, seconded by Councilman Bennett moves that all bids
be turned over to the Building Commissioner for final check -up and recom-
mendation. "otion carried.
At this point regular order of business was suspended, in order that the
bills might be presented for approval and payment:

excused, on account of illness at his
home.
Reports of standing copmitties were as follows:

Sanitation: Still no bailer. Also,
unable to find needed tires for truck.
Fire: O.K. Chairman Brown reported
a total of 5 new wells dug. He stated
that he believed several bomb shelters
should be erected in different parts
of the town and was instructed to het
an idea of their cost.
Polices O.K. at present.
Streets & Parks: Absent
Buildings: Taken up earlier in meeting.

ordinance as set up by the City of Tampa, stating that certain features
were O.K. but that in ;his opinion it was a_ question whether each separate
municipality should pass such laws or leave the matter up to the Defense'
Council to.handle! and that in all cases there should be uniformity. Ms
