With another letter at hand from the Florida 'League of Municipalities
asking South Miami to rejoin, at $70.00 per year membership, Atty. .'lard
stated it was a question of whether anything would be gained by belonging,
that the problems of the larger cities were naturally antagonistic to
those of the smaller ones, that the next session of the state legislature
would show whether any good could come out of the League, and therefore
suggested holding over any action until next year when the legislature
is scheduled to meet. Councilman Brown suggested that a letter be
written to the League, stating that there is no provision in the current
budget for membership dues but that the City will watch the situation
and if the League shows any tendency to help the smaller munJcipalitiesq
provision for the dues will be made in the next budget. It was agreed'
that this be done and suggested that South I -iiiami try to line up the
other small municipalities on such a proposition by sending copies of
this letter to them.
