AT TIEE CITY HALL AT 7.30 P.M
The meeting was called to order by Fres. Vanderboegh with ?viayor Glass
and all members of the Council present,
President Vanderboegh read the notice for the meeting which had been
called for the purpose of taking action on the'appointment of a police
officer or officers.
Before presenting the applications on hand,.a letter from R. G. Banners
Special FBI agent at Miami, calling attention to the possible increase
in responsibilities falling to even local law enforcement2officers in
the present emergency and the importance of making careful selection
based on qualifications, was read.
Applications from the following were then read: 1.7. W. Townsend,.A. B.
Horne, Theo N. Douglas, W. H. Canington,� C. E. (Ed) Harvey, Jr. Chair-
man Bennett stated that he would like at this time to make a recommenda-
tion for a permanent man to 'take Cooper's place and hold over until
next regular meeting any action for a temporary appointment to take
Roby's place until he can come back to work, as the doctor's report was
that it will be six months before he is fully recovered. IIe thereupon
recommended the appointment of C. E. Harvey, Jr. as the permanent man.
Following a discussion, Counc��',Imaan,,G �1enq seconded by Councilman Faust,
moved that Chairman Bennett'PnTSe cc hat that C. E. Harvey, Jr. be
appointed, subject to a three- months probation period, at $110.00 per
month. Motion carried by poll, as follows:

Vanderboegh yes
There being no further businesst the meeting was adjourned in regular
order at approximately 7:50 P.M.
