D. 1941 AT T1E CITY I-LA L AT 8:00 P. Il._ The meeting was called to order by Pres. Vanderboegh with Mayor Glass Councilmen Gladden, Bostwick, Brown, Faust, Bennett and Vanderboegh and Katy.', H. F. Ward present. 11inutes of the regular meeting of August 19 were approved as read. L1r. E. T. Hollingsworth and 'a committee presented a petition addressed to, the Mayor and Council, signed by 11 residents of CA1,MRIDGE a A.MS, requesting 4 loads of white sand for the shallow end of the canal where the children swim, _a street light in the center of the block on N. 15th Street, and, if possible, cleaning out the canal from the_. 'bridge to the turn. In the absence' of Streets & Parks Chairman Core, no action was taken at this time but the committee was promised that the petition would, be given consideration. Chief. '";liegand, appeared before the Council with the request that he be permitted to- 'handle the State Driver's licenses, furnishing his own clerical help out of the 250 fee the State permits an agency to charge. Inasmuch as the establishment of such an agency would be a service to residents of the area, Councilman Bostwick] seconded by Counciiman Brown, moved. that Chief liegand be .granted the privilege of selling State Driver's licenses at.the City Hall,,, and furnishing his own clerical help. Lotion carried. )TReports of standing committees were as follows: Finance: O.K. Sanitation;. G.K. Fire; O.R. Chairman Brown reported that the =ire truck hand equipment had been gone over anO repainted where necessary, as well as re- lettered. Streets & Parks: With the opening of school on September;15, the appoint- ment of i..rs. Helen Baxter as playground supervisor terminates, but on recommendation sent in by Councilman Core2 Councilman Bost ick2 seconded by Councilman Faust,,moved that Llrs.,Baxter be retained for Saturdays during the school year, at $2.00 per day, after September 15. Commissioner Crandon at :"dash irgton on the gasoline shortate;, and priority of materials, respectively, and a letter written the County Commissioners on the proposed sanitary sewers.for Dade County. He stated that the federal government had been asked to tonne in on the sanitary sewers and sal project, thru ,� garbage disposal the formation of a new committee. Councilman Gladden, seconded by Council - man Bostwick, moved that the Y,;your be authorized to write a letter to Pep. Vard declared himself ready to report, and advised the Council, to proceed under Ordinances ;;180 and 871 respectively for the viola- tion of erecting a building without permit, and Ordinance #97 if condem- nation proceedings are necessary.
