The meeting was called to order by Pres. Vanderboegh, with I,:ayor Glass,
- Councilmen Gladden, Faust;, Bennett,; Vanderboegh, Core and Atty. Ward present.
Minutes of` the regular meeting of May 6 were approved as mead.
lu;r. E. L. Thompson appeared before the Council to ask its consideration
(1) of a sign to keep children off the playground after dark, unless ac-
companed by adults, (2) building a shuffle -board court, :(3) occasional
transportation of the junior baseball team he was organizing, and (4) pos-
sibility of having a playground supervisor during the vacation months.
Councilman Bennett, seconded by Councilman Faust, moved that Chairman Core
be authorized to have a sign made and put up, regulating the use of the
playground after dark, as he saw fit. �.:otion carried: Councilman Gladden,
seconded by Councilman,Bennettl moved that one unit of a shuffle -board
court be put in. LTotion carried. 'Jith the insurance on the school bus -
terminating with the close of school, and the bus in need of repairs, the '
desired transportation could, not be promised by the City, forthe games
the team may play out of town, and Pres. Vanderboegh pledged himself to
furnish said transportation. On the question of a playground supervisor
no definite action was taken! but P:7r. Thompson instructed to 'line up favozz
able prospects for the next regular meeting.
At this point Councilman Bostiiick joined the meeting.
Councilman. Core, seconded by Councilman Faust, moved that the City buy a
new flag for the Community Building,. Yotion carried.: N
A request of the South Investment Corporation for a settlement on approxi-
rately a 25% basis of an already adjusted tax statement was turned down'.
Letters from Schuyler and Roberts, and Frederic Dunn- Rankin submitting pro -
posals for auditing the City's books, were read, and it was suggested that
they be asked for further particulars, and James Paxson also invited to
submit a proposal.

obtain a packale liquor store license, but were probably waiting to see
what the legislature may do about changing; the powers of`.cities in this
matter:
Iv:ayor Glass reported that A. R6nuart, owner of U`4,Il'r -,"bITY I1,'L11K, had
been to see him about 4 times and stated his willingness to put a 00.00
lien on each lot to put in a unit hater system, and. had a contractor who
had agreed to erect 100 houses within a year and si-n up for water for
each house; that he would deed to the City the east half of the last block
in the subdivision for a water supply station and City nark, to act as a
screen against colored town) that he is ready to go ahead with all this
and willing; to drop his Quo '�Iarranto Suit now sending. Ie also asked .
whether the City would change the zoning on Red Road lots to business.
Atty. .lard suggested that the >contractors finance the entire matter and
then contract with the City to operate the plant in order to 'make it
municipal water, but also stated that he was not yet sure what F•uarantee
the FFIA would require from the City in this connection. He was instructed
to take the matter un with them..
The question of making, a change in the license fee for music machines was
again brought up and after a discussion,.Councilman Bennett, seconded
by Councilman Bostwick, .moved that it be left as it now stands. Motion
carried
h1ayor Glass reported. that -there is to be a Community Chest meeting on
idonday evening, Lay 26, which I: ayors of the Greater I "iarri area were asked
to attend, at a charge of X2.50. It was agreed that iv'ayor Glass go,
Mayor Glass also stated that he ]iar3 sent congratulatory riessages to I�Yayor.

The question of the proposed bill. before the legislature, eliminating the
present school districts and placing all schools in the County under a,
general head was brought ul, with Payor, Glass stating that it 'should be
protested. Atty. W'aid, however, expressed himself as in favor of the bill,
which would be a "break" for the sma.i.ler communities, and advised against
takir_g any, action against it. The Council agreed in this after he had
gone into a detailed discussion)
Atty. '.`lard, having been requested to look into its details reported that
House Bill ;,1134, providing uniform municipal charters wouid definitely limit
smaller communities in thoir operation, and Councilman Gladden„ 1econded
by Councilman rost,vick, moved that the Council hold over until the :next
meeting action on jo'iniYig the statewide ''lPA project on Codification of
1'junicipal Charters and Crdinances, pending legislative action, and that
the Project authorities be notified to that effect. Lotion carried.
An invitation from the local boy and girl scout troops and cub den to their
annual prograat at the Community Building on I`onday eveni g was read and as
many members of the Council as could, promised to attend.
:res. Vanderboeth again reported on the Dobbs matter, stating that L:r. Hobbs
would give a right- of -way deed for cancellation of sorre back taxesq, but
the Council decided that it was not interested in the right -of =way for
either a cash consi oration or cance Ll.ation of tax certi icates.
