The meeting was called to order by Councilman Bostwick, who was unanimously
appointed Tres. pro tem in the absence of Pres. Vanderboegh and V_ce Pres.
Core Responding to roll call were Councilmen Gladden, Brown, Bennett and
Bostwick, and Mayor Glass and tatty. lWard,
r Iilinutes of the regular meeting of October 15 were approved as read,.
A letter From the State Road Dept. advising that permission would have to
- be asked for any further installations of traffic signals on the States t=
Highway was read and ordered filed.
Application of John Fosse'lman for deed to Lots 1 and 2 HOBBS SUBD..1 recently
acquired from the State bar the 'City,; was presented. and Councilman Gladdens
seconded by Councilman_ Brown, Moved, that the City accept fir. Fosselmants
check for $101-83,, in full settlement, instruct Atty. 'Hard to draw up the
proper deed and provide for the execution of same by the Mayor and City
Clerk. Motion, carried by poll, as follows:

Mayor Glass reported that no report could yet be made on the water situ-
ation, but hoped some action could be gotten after the election. He also
reported that the $25.00 authorized for sewing room supplies, was still
on hand. It was decided that the $5.00 welfare contribution from the G & E
Cleaners be held together with the $25.00 sewing room money. It;ayor Glass
also stated that the proprietor of the Rare Bird Farm at Kendall had promised
some funds to the sewing room fund. Following a discussion led by the
14ayor, Councilman Gladden', seconded 'by Councilman Bennett, moved that the
City take out a $5.00 membership with the South Miami District Chamber of
Commerce, with the understanding that any one member of the Council at-
tending meetings would represent the City. Motion carried. It was also
reported that the proposed dirigible airport is to be located near South
Miami., but that attempts wee being made 'to close out Chapman Field.

gaitatigLi: In the absence of Chairman Foyle, the request of Turner Bass,
living Mist below the bridge on Red Roads for garbage collection of $1.00
per u :onth, was brought up. Fallowing a discussion, motion was made by
Councilman Ivrowng seconded by Councilman Gladden, tiutt collection at $1.00
per month be tried for a few L.onths, but only one collection per week.

Police:
Chairman Bennett reported the shooting. of a netro who had terror

Chief wliegand. He also reported the aindiag. of a large still in the harn-

Streets & Parks: It was reported that worek on patching, the streets had
been started Nov. 1
The natter of requiring licenses from laundries, etc. for kick -up ServiceB
was discussed and the question raised as to whether such services were nut
,a convenience to the local people, sothat taxing them would indirectly
penalize the residents. It was finally agreed, in this connection, as
well, as any future questions that might arises that all com,,laints be
tabled unless personally presented.

Councilman Gladden called attention to the need for deter,nining what the
City wanted from the next legislature, so that the necessary bills could
be drawn up and advertised for the required 60-day period. There was
a general discussion, but no definiteYactiun taken at this time.
