The meeting was. called to order by Pres. Vanderboegh with Mlayor
Glass and Councilmen Gladden, Bostwick, Brown, Foyle, Bennett and
Vanderboegh and Atty. II. F. Ward present.
M,inutes of the regular meeting of October 1, were approved as read.
A letter from '11. A. Larkins was read, thanking Pres. Vanderboegh and
the Council for their congratulatory message on the occasion of his
80th birthday.
Following the reading of a congressional notice regarding a resolution
on uniform directional markers for safe air travel and a discussiob
on the subject, Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Gladden,
moved that the Clerk write the representatives to give their attention
and full support to t$e measure. Motion'carried
A- letter from the Dade County Zoning Commission, regarding a change;
in classification of the corner of Bird and iced Loads 'which lies in
the County and asking South Miamils co- operation, was read, and tabled
for the time 'being.
r A letter from the Miami Daily News, soliciting an ad in a special
rotogravure edition, was read, and after discussion, Councilman Bostwick,
seconded by Councilman. Gladden, moved that it be tabled until next year.

pump, to service the City's motor equip ent with Crown gasoline at.
14¢ per gallon, and oil, at wholesale ($5.17 per case for Esso and
$3657 for Essolube). It was decided to take the offer under advisement.

Streets a Parks: With the report that the WPA art.studio was waiting
for the stage at the Community House to be rebuilt before preparing an
estimate for the installation of the 'stage equipment, Councilman Brown9
seconded by Councilman Bostwick, moved that Councilman Core be instructed
to go ahead with the work of enlarging the stage. Motion carried.. The
receipt of a check for $44.83 from the County Road and Bridge Fund was
also reported.
Prey. Vanderboegh brought up the question of paving the street extending
from Sunset Drive to State Highway; alongside of the poatoffice.: Inas-
much as, this is on privately owned property it was decided that it
should be taken. up with the owner (Omar Stang) to see what could be
worked out together with County Commissioner Paxson, and guaranteeing
the use thereof in a written form to be approved by the City Attorney.

The special committee on water was not ready to report.
As a result of investigation it was possible to get a 5150 liability,
Policy in place of the 10/20 originally decided upon, _for the school
bus, and at slightly lover premium.,
Pres. Vanderboegh presented a request froo the South Miami. Baptist.
Church for the use of the City's school bus for the transportation ,`
of Sunday school pupils. Inquiry at the insurance company revealed
that such use of the bus would require an additional premium.
Following a discussion in which Councilman Bennett expressed himself
as opposed to using the school bus for anything except school childrent
Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Foyle, moved that the City

school ':bus be used only for the regular school runs an
troops. Motion carried.
The question of setting out the 9 acres in Section 36 South of Snapper
Creek canal was brought upland left for the Attorney to work out.
Owing to the bend in N. Kendall Drive just west of Red road, the land
extending from the road to the canal is partly in.the City and partly
out, the former comprising the 9 acre tract in Section 36 which-Js now
being split up into smaller parcels by meets and bounds descriptions,,
with the rear of the ,property in the City and the road frontage in
the County.
Mayor Glass made extensive reports p on the proposed dirigible airport
to be located down here on the proposed causeway to Virginia and

County HealthCfficer's progress in straightening
up the chicken farm on the edge of the ;City and his efforts to have
the school signs and "no parking" signs replaced down at the South
Miami Elementary school. He also brought up the federal governments
requirements for increased sponsorship, for the maintenance of the INPA
sewing room, so that, even after increasing the credit for rent and
ice, and County aid, it still required an additional $25.00 monthly
cash outlay for textiles, for which some clothes could be given the
PTA for distribution among needy children, the balance to go the
County Hospital.. After cons derable discussion, it was agreed that
the City pay this amount for one month, and See what could be worked
out with the 'PTA. This was nut in the form of a motion by Councilman
Bostwick, seconded by Councilman Bennett and carried.

A
' Mayor Glass also brought up the matter of the recent ordinance zoning
for liquor stores, stating that V. D. Bryant was threatening quo
warranto proceedings if a liquor store license 10 not granted the
"Dixie Pig" and suggested that an election of freeholders be held
to vote their approval or disapproval of.the Council's action on
zoning for liquor stores, stating that such an election would be a
help in fighting such a quo warranto suit.. Following i discussion,
it Has decided to hold off and.see what really happens,, as such an
election could always be held when suit is filed and before; it is
heard.

Councilman Gladden, secbnded by Councilman Bostwick, moved that the
bills be paid as read. Motion carried by poll, as follows;;
