Councilman Gladden, seconded by 'Councilman Brown, moved that Ordinance #x`128 be placed on 2nd Reading by caption only. Motion carried. The meeting was called to order by Pros. Vanderboegh, with Mayor Glass, CauL-icilmen Gladden? Bostwickq Brown, Foyle2 Bennett, Vanderboegh and Atty. Ward present. Pres. Vanderboegh read the notice for the meeting which had been called for the purpose of taking action on the proposed amendment to the package yr store license and for any emerg ency business that may come before the - meeting , As emergency businesst the following matters were first disposed of; " I. Mrs. Riley of the South Miami P.T.A. stated that owing to the increased = attendance at the South Miami Elementary School, the auditorium was being made over into 2 class rooms necessitating the removal of all stage equip- ment recently installed by the P.T.A.2 and offered this to the City for use at the Community Building, in exchange for the use of said building for 'some of their meetings. She stated that she believed the City could get the W.P.A. to install it at no cost for labor. and only slight cost for material. Following a discussion, Councilman Bennett] seconded by Councilman Bostwick, moved that the City accept the stage equipment of- fered by the P.T.A. iniexchange for the use of the Community' Building for its meetings for the current school year. Motion carried. It was also , decided that the City go ahead and have the equipment installed. 2. T. L. Murphy and Scout Jimmy Yarborough appeared before the, Council to ask for transportation for the troop once a month for the 8 school months to the awarding court, held at Miami, explaining that this is an important phase in Boy Scout work. Pres. Vanderboegh said he would furnish the driver if the City would furnish the bus. Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Bostwick moved that as the sponsor of the Troupq the Council permit it to use the school bus once a month, to go to awarding court$ providing a proper driver is in charge. Motion carried. As a preliminary to the consideration of the ordinance to amend the liquor ordinances, Frank Soukup asked the Council to consider modifying it to i'� permit such business all along the highwayp stating that the City's growth is in that direction and should be taken into consideration. Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Bostwick, moved that Ordinance #128, caption of which follows,, be placed on first reading in its entirety. Motion carried.
